Don't know if anyone has seen this, but it's pretty cool coming from a foreign point of view.

I won't even get into the Sammy description (I'm sure this thread will be closed soon).
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Never saw that before. Pretty cool.

The dynamic of Dave the frontman and Eddie the Guitar God works so damn well.

Crikey - that brings back a few memories - I seem to recall that airing on British TV at 5am or something ridiculous like that (I was at university at the time, hence the somewhat strange hours I kept!)

I just love the dead-pan delivery - "Sammy Hagar, Bette Midler lookalike", said with a totally straight face. Great stuff!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There really wasn't a combo like them before or since. There's been a few great guitar/singer duos in rock like Page-Plant and Jagger-Richards, but none with the flair of DLR and the musicality of EVH.

It's a shame that they parted ways at the peak of their powers. Would have liked to see what they would have come up with had they stayed together.

As an aside, I've always loved that footage of HFT from Donnington. It's so fucking raw, but soooo good. I love the British crowd in the back just going crazy to Alex's double kick and Roth is all over the place. At one point he's says something along the lines of "you all are alot rowdier than the United States" and judging from the clip, I believe it.

That's what cracked me up - he said it seriously and I have to assume that he really meant it.

Not trying to ruffle any Sam fan feathers, as I've said I am a fan of all eras, but that was pretty funny.

Indeed. Bottles of p*ss being thrown at the stage are a fundamental part of such a gig as the old Donnington Festival. It only becomes problematic when the lids aren't screwed on tightly enough...

Yes, OK, I admit it - I am not a 'feminist' - but, despite that, in general, I like to think I have a fairly robust sense of humour...

I love how Michael Anthony is accused of "loitering in the background."
