Default Looking for a high-quality, easy to use delay pedal

I've got a Boss DD-6 that I may be looking to sell. Ideally, I'm looking for another good-sounding delay pedal that's versatile, but has a somewhat simpler interface. The controls on the DD-6 are starting to annoy me.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

P.S. I've heard good things about the MXR Carbon Copy.

The easiest delays I have used was the Boss DD-3 and the MXR Carbon Copy.

The best pedal delays I have used (and still do) are the Strymon and the Eventide. The Strymon is easier...and it's so sweet.

I am not a gigging musician though.

The MXR Carbon Copy is very easy to use and sounds really good. They're not overly expensive either.

Yup the MXR Carbon Copy is good. I find all the MXR stuff easy to use and it sounds great. I've never gotten along with the Boss stuff.

Uhh, me? LOL. I did a double take when I read that.

Like Arson, A&Z and vhin04, when you ask for a simple delay I too jump first to the Carbon Copy. I'm a big fan of MXR, and it doesn't get much simpler than the Carbon Copy. Affordable, high quality and no-nonsense. My experience with it was this: the mix control was very sensitive, the repeats were a bit dark and it only likes being in the front of an amp, not the FX loop. That doesn't stop it from being a great pedal though, I really do like it.

I'm a big fan of Wampler pedals as well, I've been using an Ego Compressor for years. I've also got a Paisley drive and have owned a Pinnacle before. I haven't used their Faux Analog Echo, but the demos sound good and I'm sure it'd be a fantastic pedal to own. It's only got one more knob than the Carbon Copy too!

The only simpler delay pedal I can think of would be the Lovepedal Echobaby. Haven't used it at all. I owned a Lovepedal pickle vibe once, good build quality, but I wasn't a fan of the vibe...

If you prefer running your delays in the FX loop, as I do, I'm not sure you'll find anything much simpler than the DD-6, unless you want to run a line/instrument level converter. If that's the case and you're not happy with your DD-6, I'd recommend the Hardwire DL-8. It's pretty much the same complexity as the DD-6, but these pedals are super solid and easy to use.

    Hope this helps!

+1 on the Strymon El Capistan. That's the best delay pedal I've ever had. The Wampler Faux Analog Echo is pretty good too, but not long enough delay times for my use.

You don't need to spend this much, the others has offered some great choices. My vote goes for the Maxon AD999 for a warm sounding analog delay with up to 900 ms if you need it (supposedly the most from any current production analog delay). I was looking for something that sounded like my old rack-mount Ibanez AD202 from the 80's and this is very close. Maxon made those units for Ibanez back then. You'll still see the AD202 around in certain studios. The AD999 is built like a tank and has a very straightforward user interface. Sounds great up front or in the loop. I do like MXR stuff though and if I wouldn't have bought this one I would have certainly considered the Carbon Copy.

+1 on the Hardwire DL-8. I've got one of these and its great. I haven't had to much experience with too many other delays other than the Boss DD3 years ago, but the DL-8 is great. Its got a Looper on it too.

Check out some reviews on youtube.

Hey Jedi,I am interested in why you say the carbon is no good for a loop .....not questioning the validity of the statement,as I too prefer delay way....was thinking of getting a carbon copy, now maybe not so much......I have owned various delays over the years with a DD -3 being my fav ....what I currently have is a Marshall governator.........not worth the effort of plugging it in.....

I believe the CC is designed for instrument level signal - the level of signal your guitar will output. Amp effects loops operate at line level, which is hotter than instrument level. The CC didn't take a liking to that hotter signal with my 5150III's effects loop.

That said, Line 6 says the M9 is meant for instrument level use, yet it has worked perfectly in the loop of my 5150III for nearly 3 years. Do a google search for whatever amp you have and "carbon copy" "effects loop" and see if anybody else has had any luck using the CC in the FX loop of your amp.
