There has been a lot of Dave Promotions as of late and his tour is over now. Why all the promo?

Here's a few places we have seen Dave lately:

VMA (appearance with Sam)

FHM Magazine, a huge article in the September edition. A real good read check that one out.

Howard Stern, doing acustic with nothing to promote.

And plenty of other Magazine spots and TV spots.

Is Dave on some sort of PR campaign to increase his popularity? Has he finally given up on a VH reunion?

What exactly does it all mean?

Dave trying his best to stay in the public eye is what I gather.
he doesn't want to disappear again and senses a likely VH reunion with Sammy and not himself. His way of telling people "hey remember me?"

How sad is that? To me, that'd be like Roger Daltrey or Paul McCartney saying the same("Hey remember me?!?). Sure Dave hasn't been relevant in rock music for a while but VH made their mark with him. And it was such a HUGE mark that at one point in time they WERE the biggest rock band on the planet. Why then does Dave not get the respect of say a Daltrey or McCartney. How long has it been since either of those guys did anything earth shattering? But they still get the respect they're owed.

As they say in Hollywood, ANY PUBLICITY IS GOOD PUBLICITY. I don't know if he is sensing anything other than opportunities to be in the spotlight.
Sammy and Dave have spewed forth crap from their lips about reuniting with VH, but you haven't heard anything from VH. Just because Mike is hanging with Sammy it may not mean shit, because the brothers seem to be bitter and stubborn about things. Mike won't be able to easy convince either one of them that Dave or Sammy or both is the right choice for next singer.
Van Halen without the original 4 is just not Van Halen.

Perhaps he is out and about because it's been said he would be interested in a reality show like The Osbournes, and it wouldn't hurt to be a little more public and available???

Maybe Dave has been enjoying his time in the limelight from the tour. Keep the ball rollin' so to speak.

By the way, Paul McCartney has done plenty over the past few years. He has put out albums and he did a lot to help out with the Sept. 11 relief efforts.

I'm seeing a lot of what Dave wants as to explain why he is in the media, but remember that the spots he is in (mags and interviews) must want him or they wouldn't have him involved in the first place... For Dave to get as visible as he has been, there has to be an interest from the people giving him the exposure... Why is there always the line that no one cares about Dave except for Dave? And more importantly, if Dave wasn't worth crap that is being said in this thread in particular, he must have something going for him that you folks just aren't understanding (Not that I understand it either, but Roth just can't make businesses flip over backwards for him... He's good, but not that good). Not just anyone gets on Howard Stern or in magazines because he or she wants to... That's a just an assumption... For the record, I wouldn't mind seeing Sammy out there to, but more importantly how about Ed??? Who wouldn't want to know his take on the summer tour and if he has plans to record and possibly tour at all before he's eligible for Social Security??? Of course, if you read Golf Digest you can catch the latest Eddie interview about how his putter slices faster than the next guy...

The publicity for Dave obviously is due to the recent tour with Sam... he's just getting it while he can. People who aren't hardcore VH fans will wonder every decade or so, "I wonder what happened to David Lee Roth?"

I expect him to fade away again unless he gives us an album with good players or plays nice with VH and reunites.

I think it's great that both Dave and Sammy keep in the public eye. Though Dave should tone down his attrire. Dave should not be dressing that way at his age. Sammy should tone down his attire as well. No one should be dressing like Richard Simmons, period.

Sam and Dave's being public also contrasts sharply with the Van Halen brothers. It seems that Eddie would prefer to play golf and Alex would prefer to download porn off the interweb all day (which is what I do).

Give it a rest. DLR is an 80's has been no matter the 'impact'. No different than any other long haired hair sprayed teased hippie of the genre....except DLR was the only one who couldn't grow up!

You youngsters need to remember Paul and Roger were at the top of their game and filling stadiums before you were even a twinkle in your daddy's eye!!!

In this summer's top 10 tours McCartney was number one with an average per show gross of $2,610,295!!! Sam & Dave tour barely broke $300,000 per show gross.

I beleive that's atributable to an unparalelled musical legacy Paul has... Probably piss some of you off but DLR couldn't fill a thimble in comparison to the ocean of musical contribution from McCartney.

I think I'd use the analogy of a coffee cup to a swimming pool... but I agree. Another big difference is that McCartney wrote music, while Dave was a collaborator. Meanwhile, even Mick Jagger or Roger Daltry couldn't really sustain a solo career without re-joining The Stones or The Who. McCartney is an exception to the rule.

Dave is just working it like Sammy is. I wouldn't read anything into anything these days.
Could this be magic?
