    Top 5 live VH bootlegs 1978 to 2012

    Since 2007 , most of the bootlegs I have been enjoying have been from the YouTube video footage. Which as you all know of course , Is quite a lot.

    So Ive fallen behind in collecting the audio bootlegs and thought of this list as an idea for a thread topic , to find out what the hardcore fans think is the best of the boots.Im thinking it could be informative for many fans who browse this site.

    Comments could be made to point out Why and what you enjoy most about each particular bootleg show recording.As well as , links and artwork to get it.If that is allowed , depending upon the big kahuna that is the boss of this fine VH site.

    1- greensboro 1981

    Chickenfoot's debut album sold more copies than ADKOT. Deal with it.

    SO WHY ARENT YOU ON A CHICKEN FOOT SITE? DO YOU THINK THERE BETTER OR SOMETHING? WONDER IF THEY HAVE ANY BOOTLEGS BETTER THEN IPSWICH IN 78? IM GUESSIN NOT.....DEAL WITH IT

    Ahh my sig is doing exactly what it was meant to do

    This is a discussion about great VH bootlegs and I answered. If you'd care to discuss the boots further, excellent. If you'd care to get bent out of shape and take offense to my music taste and honesty, my inbox is always open.

    side note comment

    Good to get the B.S. over with.I just had an amazing idea regarding " chickenfoot ".What if they toured with the "RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS "? Wouldnt that of been a good idea for them this year ? They could have their amazing drummer stay in the band and perform to a larger open minded audience. In addition to their regular headline shows. Id bet that drummer has enough energy for both bands. I bet they never even thought of it.If they sold that many copies of their first album , theyd probably do even better with the second one , with more exposure , on the chili peps tour.

    I didnt even know about the " IPSWICH 78 " bootleg, so this thread is already been good to me.

    As a bootleg novice, all of these shows are unknown to me. Where can I get digital copies of them? Flip me a PM if it is all sort of secret squirrel.

    On a side note, I do have ONE bootleg... Ten years ago I went to a second hand music store and among other LP's I picked up, I found what I can only assume to be the OP's Osaka 79 bootleg on vinyl!* In a little music shop in New Zealand! SCORE!!

    I listened to it a couple of times and then put it away. It's now in England with the rest of my parents vinyl collection**. Bummer.

    *I assume it's this show because there can't be too many bootlegs of the Japan leg of the 79 tour out there.
    **I also got VH1 that day and Sammy Hagar's V.O.A and Three Lock Box. That was all the VH related stuff they had. I bought 'em all, cost me about $10 bucks for the lot.

    Check it out, there's a string of soundboards from the first tour when they opened for Black Sabbath overseas and Ipswich is without a doubt the best sounding of them all. Clear, excellent performance. A band on a mission.

    THIS.

    The run from 5/22/78 (Manchester) to 6/10/78 (London) is unequaled.

    5/28/78 Ipswich may best the best. BUT 6/1/78 London is also EXCELLENT and includes Bottoms up.

    These recording were first thought to be soundboards, but they are really open mikes that were on stage. Excellent clear sound as well as the band ON FIRE.

    ++++

    3/25/79 Fresno, CA is also one of my favorite shows. Incredible first night of the 2nd World Tour.

    +++

    6/21/81 Los Angeles is a excellent FW show. Get the one that our old friend LOU speed corrected the tape.

    +++

    9/15/82 San Francisco is excellent. Great DD show. One of our old friends here may have even been the one who recorded it.......

    +++

    also don't forget the CLUB DAYS.

    10/15/77 Pasadena @ the Civic. Fuck....Incredible. Get the "Nightmare before Halloween" version, put out by another old friend Wooda from DDLR.

    Thinking of club shows, my favorite is from May 30, 1976 (I believe that's the date). It's called Strike While the Iron's Hot. It has "Eyes of the Night" and "Let Me Swim" on it, along with a wicked cover of "La Grange."

    They were on fire that night, and the quality is out of this world. Mike's bass is very up front too so you get a clear sound of everything. Awesome bootleg.

    Okay, I have read about all of these numerous times but have no idea as to how to listen / obtain them.

    Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Thanks!

    Most of us got a lot of these recordings through Bit Torrent download. You will have to read up a little on the "How To's"

    Best place is the vhlinks sister site over at www.jamtothis.com You can also go to dimeadozen or thetradersden

    If you only want mp3s, you can go check out guitars101. Pretty simple direct download. http://www.guitars101.com/forums/f90/

    There is also a vhlinks member "VOA" that has a VH mp3 site over at houseofbootlegs. He has a few posts in the bootleg forum if you need a link. http://z3.invisionfree.com/House_Of_Bootlegs/index.php?

    Most are on youtube as well if you just want to sample listen.

    +++++

    Or you can even go to vhtrading if you want to mail trade a few cds or dvds.
