    Default 2012: The year in concerts so far

    Halfway through the year, so I figured I'd post the concert progress report.
    I'm fortunate enough to live in a part of the country that pretty much gives me the option of choosing to go to a concert in 7 different states at little more than a days notice. I try to go to 20 a year. So far, I couldn't be happier with 2012. Here's what I've been to so far this year.

    January 29th: Megadeth, Motorhead, Lacuna Coil & Volbeat (Lowell, MA)
    March 9th: Iced Earth, Symphony X & Warbringer (Worcester, MA)
    March 11th: VH/K&TG (Boston, MA)
    March 13th: VH/K&TG (Manchester, NH)
    April 28th: Marilyn Manson/The Pretty Reckless (Hampton Beach, NH)
    April 29th: Rammstein (Worcester, MA)
    May 16th: Godsmack/Staind/Halestorm (Manchester, NH)
    June 26th: Iron Maiden/Alice Cooper (Mansfield, MA)
    June 29th: Cinderella (Hampton Beach, NH)

    Highlights of this year so far (aside from the obvious VH ones) have been seeing Marilyn Manson headline in a venue that holds little more than 2,000 people, the Rammstein concert as a whole (Roger Waters doesn't have shit on them for show) & believe it or not, Cinderella (Tommy Keifer sounds EXACTLY like he did 25 years ago)

    Just curious...what shows have my fellow linkers been to this year? And are there any upcoming shows in the forecast?

    You're 22. What are you doing that you can afford all these shows? I'm amazed every time I see your list of shows.

    As for me:
    Van Halen 4/12

    Upcoming shows (possibly)
    Rush 11/3
    KISS/Motley Crue 7/28

    I get a good chunk of overtime at my main job (One of the largest auto parts stores in New England) and I repair/mod/build guitars in my spare time for some extra pocket money.

    Plus, I quit smoking a year ago and quit drinking a month ago, so there's roughly 50 bucks saved a week.

    Going to concerts is my drug of choice.

    Thus far (not much owing to cash-flow problems, amongst other things):

    *Def Leps / Motley Crue / Steel Panther (Manchester) - great stuff but a huge venue and had seats right at the back which wasn't ideal;

    *Chickenfoot / Red, White & Blues (Manchester) - WOW!!! Teeny venue; all GA; got up-front and personal with Sam; drinkies with crew afterwards - could NOT be better!

    *Matt Cardle (Liverpool) - sweet bloke; good performance;

    *Beyond the State (Llandudno) - up & coming Indie Rock band - very talented.

    Coming up...VH in the UK? VH anywhere in Europe? VH???

    not as many as some of you guys....I'm not a big concert guy:

    Black Stone Cherry and Chickenfoot-was about 20 feet from Joe for the whole show and it was awesome. I never heard of BSC before this show and I got 2 of thier cd's so that says something (I'm pretty cheap too). Of course CF was awesome, I'm a huge fan of Hagar, Mike and Joe so it's just awesoem to see them plus they played thier asses off.

    Skid Row-saw about 6 songs just this past Sunday, they sounded good and the guy they have singing for them (my buddy said it was the guy from Black and Blue) actually hit most of the notes which shocked the shit out of me. Slave to the Grind was awesome in concert...Sabo (or whatever the lead guitar players last name is) looks EXACTLY like he did in the 18 and Life video...I was like "WTF"?

    Tesla-Just saw them Sunday and they were FANTASTIC. I'd put the show I saw on Sunday at about the same level as the CF show I saw a month ago, they just kicked ass the whole time. saw them last year and I didn't think they were good at all, this was like a totally different band.

    I probably have 2 or 3 more bands I want to see this year. I actually didn't know that VH was coming as early in the tour as they were or I woulda proabably looked into seeing them.

    Van Halen and Boston this year, actually within 30 days of each other. Two of my favorite bands who don't tour often and don't communicate with their fans so I'm very fortunate. Also saw Megadeth, Volbeat, Motorhead and Lacuna Coil in LA, Gigantour and it was awesome! I've peaked, everything else this year is gravy, the thick kind that sticks to your biscuits.
