    Default Kramer Ex eddie Backup

Have been asked about this guitar on another thread, so thought I would post it in its own thread. Pics pretty self explanatory, came from a chap who has a huge Ed collection etc. Came through Rockstarguitars.com, direct from the chap I mention above, who bought it direct from Zeke
any will let pics do the talking..very lightweight, cheap feeling guitar,no clearcoat on it, very loud & smooth acoustically and very warm plugged in. Very easy to play

That's really cool! Looks a lot like the 5150, but without the spacetape...

Very cool! I met Zeke in '86 on the 5150 tour in Austin,TX. Very cool guy, especially to me as a 14 year old kid. He gave me one of Eddie's picks before the show and I have treasured it for life...

These guitars look 100% authentic to me. I'll bet you can see them in the backstage pictures from Guitar World that show all of the striped backup Kramers. You can tell he made his own "KRAMER" logo on that one close-up. This font was never actually used by Kramer. You can see the neckplate is correct for a late 80s Kramer...

has it ever been confirmed what pu is in his kramers? or at least his main two?
I love the tone on LWAN! and the pu is partially responsible for that and of course there is the $3000 eventide!

One thing I did find a bit odd was when I got the guitar it was strung with 09's .... I always thought ed was a 10's man.
The guy that owned it before me wasn't a guitar player so he wouldn't of changed them... I wonder If ed tried/swapped between 09/10's
Don't know what the pickup is... Might unscrew it and see if there is any I.d on it

Thanks chaps, will have a look at that pickup, needs a change of strings so will 'whip it out'
and have a look when I do.
Nice info on the strings, thanks very much for that, as I said I always thought it was 10's so its nice to have some good info on that one overall nice comments indeed
, never knew about the headstock writing or the neckplate, so pleased all is well!

Man, I would love to have one of those, I just don't want to stroke the check!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Very cool pics indeed!

I need to ask one question tho, how do you get the fretboard looking that dirty? I mean its obviously not pure dirt from the fingers or strings it looks rather as if the actualy wood gets affected. Maybe a rather dumb question but I have never experienced that with one of my fretboards.

They just get like that over time and tons of use. The finish on the neck (both the actual finish type as well as the actual final sanding grit) can be major factors. I have an old Kramer maple neck that I removed the finish from and after years of playing it looks like that. It's full of scunge, and the wood is kind of grey in spots where sweat and grime have kind of soaked in. Haha. And I never clean my necks either. Like 'em feelin' kinda grimy and slutty side of townish!
