I have GR5. IMO it's the best of the desktop guitar apps. Never tried to get the LWAN tone though. I have managed to NAIL the Runaround tone on my Tele.
I'd be interested in hearing other peoples results.

I can't upload it here, it say's that its an invalid file type.
PM me your email address and I'll hook you up.
It doesn't sound right on a humbucker equiped guitar, I built the preset around a Tele on purpose.

I've been trying for ages to get that tone in GR5, you just can't get it very accurate.
GR doesn't have the eventide which is a huge part of that tone. It does however have a stereo effect that's very similar.

Ed is using a bunch of stock Marshalls for that tone cranked to the max.
I just use this preset I made, it does it decently I suppose.

I haven't played that song in a long long time so forgive the slow bits and fumbles.

I think maybe I need to make the Stereo detune a little more wet.

I think that sounds great for the 5150 LWAN tone. I think if you go any wetter Ookra you will be crossing over to the Balance era tone.

Here I think I can upload it here, I zipped it. Hopefully it works.

Basically I use 5150's not Marshalls on it. And the Stereo Tune, Little Reflektor and some reverb. Seems to work well for that sound for me.

You may not like it but here you go anyway.

I don't understand all the modelling...but IMHO, you need real Eventide Harmonizers with the dry-wet-dry detune and all that. The Harmonizer is crucial to both the sound of LWAN and the 5150 album.

I was happy to use just my old Deluxe Memory Man and a MXR Distortion + with my Kramer and my '65 Super Reverb to record my demo of the LWAN solo...so believe me, I understand what it is like to go without the Eventide out of financial necessity!

I do agree about the eventide but i am after that warm fat tone he gets on it,i think he has the EVH frank pup in his kramer? that may help? I use a super d and several booteek custom winds the MHD "ASYLUM" gets the closest

Really the fatness is in the Eventide in my opinion. You can try all the pickups in the world, but if you don't have the Eventide you are pissing up a rope...

This is the perfect tone for jammin alone in the music rom for me but i can see to get GTR5 to sound like this? I can make my 5150II stack sound just like a soldano but can get this tone from gtr??? WTF???
What are the settings on gtr's options? I hate the way they label the effects. just call a chorus a chorus and a pitch shifter a pitch shifter not the stupid ass nick names they use!
