    Default 2012 NBA Offseason Thread

Well the finals are a week behind us and draft day is here. Guess its time to move on to teams planning their 2012/2013 season.

The Celtics have a lot of money to spend and will KG retire or sign a one year deal and stay in Boston or go somewhere else?
The Lakers are trying to get a top 10 pick for Gasol (good luck with that) and are also trytng to unload Artest. Both guys are signed for large dollars and likely not to be moved and we all know that Pau is not the biggest problem with LA, its the coach.

Many other teams are close to being title contenders and it will be interesting to see how they if the right moves are made to put them in the picture. Will Odom make it back to LA Clippers and have a huge bounce back year?

On Pau, good luck on the top 10 pick. No chance 1-5.

On Odom, no. He's pretty much done.

Should be a fun draft with some fun fall out.

Blazers have 6 and 11. Lots of chatter. I think we need to do whatever we need to do to get Beal. I'd trade the 6th plus a player or two for him. I think he's just about the best player in the draft outside Davis and would LOVE to lock him down as a trailblazer for a decade or so. I really don't care much about anybody else we have a shot at.

I personally hope we don't go with the hype of Drummond at 6. Fucker shoots 30% FT's. Jeezus. Lilliard would make sense and I wouldn't be disappointed with him.

I hope you guys move up and get Beal....if you don't it's almost a sure thing Portland takes Lilliard.....I would love for GS to grab him......I would prefer Gilchrist, but he'll be off the board by 7.....

I know my Warriors.....I would bet my house that GS takes Drummond.....even though they probably should (if Lilliard is gone) take Dion Waiters.....

Take this with a grain of salt but I heard a rumor today concerning you and my Cavs. Granted it's from somebody who supposedly knows people who knows the Cavs GM. I don't buy it but there has been some recent talk about Waiter over the past day

Cavs draft Barnes if available at 4
    Trailblazers draft Waiter at 6
Cavs trade 24 for your 11 and then we swap Barnes and Waiter

I hope it doesn't happen cause I don't want to draft a bench player for Syracuse. The only thing worse is to draft Drummond.

I guess that'd be fine for me. Barnes seems like a pretty quality baller and we could shift Batum over to the 2 spot or vice verse....Would still prefer for us to sit at Lillard at 6 and keep 11, or go all in for Beal. Either way I don't think it all spells out until training camp. Who we draft or trade today may not even be in the picture later in July.

I'm not sure why Cleveland wouldn't want to keep Barnes though at SF....

Tell me about it. Our GM loves guys with high ceilings even if their current skills match that of a 6th grader. Picked Tristan Thompson last year about 5 picks early.

Don't know why GM's in the NFL and NBA try to outsmart themselves

It's not always BS to say that one team played harder than the other. Do I think Miami played harder than the Thunder in NBA finals? No. The games were close with the exception of the last game. But to try to pretend that teams always play their hardest is silly. To be honest, playing hard every game for 4-6 months is going to be pretty hard. Teams/players are going to have some off games.

I do think Lebron settled last year. If Lebron had Mj's drive, there would be nothing that Dallas cast of has beens would have been able to do last year.
I think in the playoffs everyone plays hard. I think that there are times where if you are not in as good a shape as the other team, then yes, you could make the argument that the other team is playing harder at the end because they are in better shape.

Looks like Houston has the #5 pick from SAC as long as Robinson is not available.

I just can't wait to see all the wheeling and dealing. Favorite part of the NBA Draft.

Yep, I'm pretty curious to see what your boys in OKC are going to do about Harden actually.

So Mo Williams goes to the Jazz, Odom goes to the Clippers, and the Mavs get a trade exception? I guess the Mavs basically lose a draft pick in the deal (sent one to the Lakers in the deal; Lakers sent it to Houston in Fisher/Hill deal)

Meh, ok with the draft for the Blazers. Was hoping for some more fireworks via trade on draft day like we've so often done in the past. Lillard's a stud, so that's cool we got a decent little floor General. He'll be 500 times better than Douchebag Felton even if he can just tie his own shoes.

Leonard wipped Zeller's ass in workouts, so I'm cool with the meat stick in the middle too as there's not many over 7 ft. Maybe he'll turn in to a guy like Varejao, which I'd be happy with.

For some reason I've got the TV on the draft while I get some work done. Funny as hell that it's up the 21st pick and Stern is still getting booed every time he comes to the mic. Man he looks like such a douche.

Sullinger and Melo to Boston. They have certainly added size, hopefully they can get some scorers via trade or free agency as they have a ton of dough to spend. Make a big play for Hibbert?
Hopefully KG comes back and he can work with Melo defensively, I have a suspicion that Melo could be dealt though.
