    Default Coconut Grove

This came up on my internet radio today, is a great cover in my humble opinion.

DLR does a great job with covers in general, and in this one he really paints a picture with his voice. Always dug it.

Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

I've always liked Dave's treatment of that tune. It's a great - and unexpected - vocal performance.

I am going to show my ignorance, the original was by the Lovin' Spoonful, correct?

Yes indeed. This song paints a most beautiful picture for sure.I can see a Nice beach with a super yummy hot tanned gorgeous honeybunny frolicking in the crystal-clear ocean water under a beautiful blue sky with a Nice cool breeze blowing on my dream vacation, and ive got a big ice cooled corona too.

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....very Nice indeed.

Black sand from 1999 is also quite a nice peaceful dreamy tune.
Sunburn from 1994 was sowewhat good as well, but too long.

Always dug this song, just like I always dug Pink Floyd's San Tropez
    "Always hopeful, yet discontent,
    He knows changes aren't permanent
    But change is!"

While my wife and I were in Hawaii back in 2003 we sat outside on a deck one night and played some tunes....this song came on and it was the perfect song for the setting. It's become my wife's favorite solo Dave song since. Great song!!

Yep, been there. A great background tune in the right situations.

LOL, true! "Sunburn" is another situational classic.

Come to think of it, a lot of my favorite David Lee Roth songs have atmospheric (if not "situational") elements -- "Hina;" "Ladies Night In Buffalo?" "Big Trouble;" "Goin' Crazy;" "Damn Good;" "Black Sand;" "Skyscraper;" "Goin' Places;" "Drop In The Bucket;" "Experience;" and "Night Life."

I used to have the cassette of CFTH and played Coconut Grove constantly. That song was always to me, a very hypnotic summer breeze that brings you right to a beach somewhere.
