Default "Just Like Paradise" in "Rock Of Ages"

Not sure if this has been discussed before, there's a cover version of "Just Like Paradise" in the movie "Rock Of Ages." To me it sounds almost better than the original version. It makes you notice the songwriting quality since you're not focusing on the dated 80s production.

What's the dated 80s production sound like?
I don't hear a ton of reverb on the snare.

It must have been played in the very beginning. I showed up at 2:02 p.m. for a 2:00 movie. For whatever reason they didn't play one preview and the movie started at exactly 2:00. Can anyone tell me if that's the case. Was it played during the opening scene?

No previews? Odd. Usually there's like 10 min. of previews.

I love that DLR tune. I have no desire to hear the ROA Glee version though.

I'm curious about the movie but it looks fearfully lame lol but whenever it makes it on HBO etc I'll likely check it out...growing up in the 80's digging that type of music and all I'm curious to see what they did....but also... afraid.lol

I've seen the musical twice and just saw the movie Friday night. The musical features "Just Like Paradise" much more than the movie does. It's pretty much the main opening song.

IMO the movie did not translate well from the musical at all. The musical was good enough to see twice, while I was really underwhelmed by the movie adaptation. Don't let the movie keep you from seeing the musical.

I can only imagine how bad Tom Cruise sounds. I understand they actually let him sing.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Rex Reed's 0 out of 4 star review is possibly the best movie review I've ever read. I almost want to go see this, because it seems like such a train wreck, it might be entertaining despite itself.

"Hollywood blackmail comes in all sizes, but I shudder to think what it took to trap otherwise respectable people like Alec Baldwin, Tom Cruise, Paul Giamatti and Catherine Zeta-Jones into this kind of unsalvageable garbage."

Totally. The musical was excellent and a 100 times better than the movie. And I hate musicals. The movie did a real injustice to the play.

I'm not hating. I have nothing against musicals especially when they are well done. I respect that you and others say the play is excellent. The commercials for this movie though look a little more cringe/roll your eyes cheesy than fun and entertaining cheesy. haha Anyway will be curious to see it when it's on tv and free.

Thank you Burning Tires, that is one CLASSIC review, (and from the guy who appeared in "Myra Breckinridge", with Mae West, Racqel Welch, Farrah Fawcett and John Huston no less - itself one of the worst films ever made - a tragic waste of celluloid I believe it was called)...

One of my best friends (was just in his wedding) and former singer in my band just got cast in the soon-to-open Rock of Ages at the Venetian in Vegas. I've not seen the movie or musical, but I only live 2:20 away and can get half-price tickets now.

Nightly, he's in the ensemble, but is also the understudy for 3 roles: Lonny, Dennis, and Hertz. There's paid vacation & sick leave, so he's guaranteed to play a larger role several times per year.

Pay ain't too shabby, btw. Not crazy, but good for working 3-4 hrs a day.
