    stage wardrobe:78 to 12:best? worst?

I sometimes wonder about other fans opinions of Van Halens stage clothes.now after browsing all 192 pages or pictures this week,I thought maybe it would be an interesting topic for a new thread.but if not thats o.k. too.its just an idea for the hell of it and couldnt find if it had been done before or not.
Fans can discuss and argue about what stageclothes they think are coolest and most ridiculus or stupid.and post pictures too maybe.
    O.k. then ill go first.
I thought VH looked coolest in 1980.on the invasion tour.i like daves crazy white fluffy boots and tiger costume.with his big long hair bouncing around on the super cool stage with the stack off amps and VH logos in back to me just sceamed ROCK and ROLL.
I acknowledge there will be some fans expressing their opinions of flamboyant ambiguity in a sarcastic mocking way.but whatever,i like the rock stars to look like rock stars.
I also like eddies blue Jump suit

Just don't get Fontcow started on the criss-cross patterned leather trousers DLR is wearing this tour - gets him all of a tizzy.

The band especially in the main two eras were kinda victims of the times.
VH has worn a lot of funny shit. At the time as a kid in the thick of the 80's it didn't seem as totally clownish as most bands looked like "clowns" to a degree. lol Even the stones have an album cover where they are all in pastels and pink etc. hah

As a young music fan and a learning guitarist idolizing guitar gods like EVH, Page, Hendrix, Rhoads etc I always thought some of the earlier pics of Ed were the coolest. Like 79 ish. But in some years what one guy wore was cool and what other dudes wore were dumb so it's hard to pick one. Was not a fan of Ed's striped overalls. I liked Mike's aviator helmet. lol

I think "fashion"/image is kinda important in rock and roll to a degree. Doesn't have to be extreme but I hate seeing bands(local bands and famous ones) that look like they just rolled out of home depot on a Saturday afternoon...with dirty looking shorts, sandels, tie die etc. It's all about the music but as an "entertainer" you gotta put at least a little effort into it.

My least favorite was some of the Hagar years especially the LWAN look...it's basically the Billy Squire flash dance video.

I think they look great now all things considered...Age...substance abuse...hair loss. lol what can you do? People talk about matador and all that.
Dave is not a blue collar type rocker. He's a little flashy and eccentric.
I care much less about that stuff now. As a kid you look at it differently.

Here are some of the years when I was a kid I thought Ed looked badass.
I didn't think he looked badass in striped overalls. It cracks me up when tribute bands who dress like them focus on the striped overalls. I guess they think it's cool or iconic. It was barely passable when Ed himself wore them in the 80's. lol

I always liked the dice shirt or No Bozos with the leather patch jeans. Think that still looks cool today.

Worst look has to be the MC Hammer pink sweats with the Italian Dinner Jacket.

However much what the band has worn hasn't made them look mahhhhvelous. But they most likely looked good during the era and that is better than feeling good.

In twenty years, people will look at what people are wearing today and will think "douches"

Coolest look for all the guys was the 1984 tour. If I had to pick one lifelong image of the band it would be this era/look....pretty much the Panama video. That is the time and era that I really fell in love with the Mighty VH. The 5150 dress was terrible. They looked like mister mister, or one of those pop rock bands.

I liked them in the early 80's (don Kirchner shows come to mind) but everything was better than the 5150 and OU812 tours. Those were some really bad Miami Vice ripoffs all the way around

Also, let's be honest. The band had to have taken pride in dressing badly. Seriously all, would you have EVER worn Velcro tennis shoes? That was a sure ass kicking for anyone in our neighborhood (over 70 got a pass)

Okay, I know I'm probably going to get a verbal battering for this - but, I actually rather like Ed's outfit in the LWAN video...Maybe it's something to do with the tight, sleeveless T-shirt and the pants dripping in sweat...Hmmm...
