    Default The Foot stomps Tucson

My buddies and I headed down to the Ol' Pueblo to catch Chickenfoot at the Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater Friday night, May 31, 2012.

I see no need for a big-ass review, but if you have a chance to catch these guys, do it. It was a helluva fun gig. They were loose (and tight), strong, havin' fun and cranking out a couple hours of good rock 'n' roll.

I did experience a bit of surrealism during the show, though. My friend nudges me and says, "Isn't that Randy Johnson?"

Sure enough, in our row a few seats down, is the former Diamondback pitcher, The Big Unit himself, enjoying the show. He somehow got on stage during the encore to snap some photos. Meanwhile I had to check my camera with security because it was "too professional." Guess you have to be a World Series MVP to catch a break.

Anyway - video of Last Temptation. Yes, the picture sucks, but the audio is good. Enjoy:

Good review and thanks for the video.

I would hate to be the guy or gal standing behind the Big Unit.

At this point isn't it time that these guys mix up the set list some? I understand why CF played only CF on the first tour but the band should embrace their past and give fans more music from a great catalog. Or maybe not.

I forgot to mention something funny.

Sammy goofed up, and as a lead singer for a rock band myself, I empathized with his misery. It was just after the breakdown in Different Devil. Joe strums some chord (not sure what the tuning is), but it's Sam's cue to come in with verse three: "There's a sweet, dark angel on my shoulder ..."

The cue came and went. Joe played the progression again and hit the chord to cue Sammy again.

    Nothing.

    Man. I've been there.

Third time through the progression, Sammy sings the second verse again ("Hey we're both gettin' older, should know better ...") and they close it out. After the song's over, he goes over to Joe, has him hit the chord again and sings the third verse, pretty much a capella. Then he says, "NOW I remember it!"

Nothing is quite as frustrating as being on stage and forgetting words that you wrote. Drives a singer crazy.

Anyway, I thought he handled it well.
