What do you make of this statment?

Everyone knows how Dave loves his "left-hand turns" (as he puts it) - and when he does it right he is BRILLIANT, e.g. Cal. Girls, Gigolo, Easy St. I'm Easy - the same for the Halen years, Ice Cream... Happy Trails, Big Bad Bill etc.

So I don't mind if he does an obscure cover - and totally makes it his own -

I just hope to god!!! this new cd isn't like 'Look at all the people...', techno-rock, incorporating dance music, whatever.

I'm hoping Dave sticks to what he does best - flat out ROCK!!!! with a couple of 'left-hand-turns along the way.

I'm worried by Luziers statement 'coz in '98 DLR gave the fans what they wanted - a VH-esque album top-to-toe with rockers - his hard-core fans loved it (most of them anyway, it's still a popular album when threads ask about his solo stuff) - but it didn't set the world on fire - loads of different reasons why (small label, distribution problems, etc.)

The last time one of his flat-out rock records relatively failed was ALAE, and he totally changed style with the follow-up YFLM - I hope he doesn't do the same this time 'round.

It kind of smacks of desperation - and I hate seeing the general public laugh at Dave.

I really hope it's a rockin' album 'cause we need it.
Let's hope that the response Dave got on his shows playing 98% VH traks, makes him do a rocker album, just what the fans need.

Is that the whole quote, or did Ray say anything beyond that?

I'm not too worried about it. Artists always want to feel like they're doing something new, regardless of whether it's true or not. You can't expect that Ray would say "this new album is JUST LIKE the DLR Band album".

I thought Dave was the guy who wanted to create the same style of music over and over again and Eddie was the experimental one...

Eddie: I really thought that things were going to work out with Dave and we were going to go back to our classic sound but Dave insisted that I put down the guitar and play keyboards so we could go techno!

Something about this project is seriously left-turn, you know? The imagery on Dave's site is all way too dark. The humor isn't fun. If LAATPHT is a clue, Dave has gone of the deep end.

David Lee Roth can make kick-ass rock and roll when he wants to. DLR Band was a half-hearted effort. Crappy production, and generic musicians. I wish Dave's ego was strong enough to let him risk putting it all on the line with the best he can do. This left-turn bullshit is just him protecting himself.

Well, that's what I hope he means when he says "different" - that it will be better produced, better sounding, Dave's voice will sound better (or he'll at least stay away from the parts where it can't).

With excerpt of Bart and insert of Toshi,I GUARANTEE it will have a Japanese/Zen theme to it!

Mark my words...I've been right thus far...
"Keep honking buddy. I'm reloading..." -The Mard

"......HEY!.............alright............." -BIG FOOT

" I know what you're thinking: "Do I want to watch Mard? We know that horses were very strong and could actually stop airplanes from flying away. The ones made out of stone called "statues" -- occasionally came to life and rode off is a colonial cliche. How many more times do we need to hear about how the oppressive Raj's wore villainous black capes, crafted cunning plastic masks to impersonate people, and drained all the blood from their slaves so they could keep the fluid in bottles in their dungeons? I mean, YAWN!

But if you're willing to sit through this dry sort of historical drama one more time -- or even just this dry historical review -- you will not be disappointed. In fact, some of you might just learn something they didn't teach you in school!-

What's the matter Loony, you don't think DLR can put out a kick-ass rock album anymore? Have some faith.

Man I'd REALLY love it (and expect) it, to sound REAL close to whatever the three "stellar" tunes are that he wrote with Eddie last year. The world may never know?????
