Default Dec. 1989 Panama invasion (Noriega) -- VH songs used for sonic warfare

I came across this government document today through a total fluke. But this is a government document showing what songs were used to wage "sonic warfare" against Noriega during the December 1989 invasion of Panama.

VH is listed twice -- "Hang 'Em High" and "Panama."

    Wild stuff.

Ya know, most of those songs are pretty good. I did noticed that he got "Rick-Rolled" near the end of the list. That would be disappointing.

I remember an episode of Drew Carey where they 'tortured' the house by playing panama over and over and over...hysterical actually. Maybe this is where they got the idea?

I would have been ready to come out with my hands up after "Hanging Tough, New Kids on the Block". Hmmm, they could have at least played the VH version of Dancing In The Streets. Actually most of the list is pretty damn good, but if I recall Noriega wasn't much of a pop/rock music lover. Another School of the Americas / CIA stooge who we ended up having to take down when he was no longer useful.

I thought this topic was already a well established Van Halen fact, not really threadworthy IMO...Unless it's an addition to the 2nd edition!

Wouldn't have worked on most of us. We can listen to VH at high volumes all day.

Aqua... now, that's another story. I'd have a fun in my mouth the minute they started.

Can't believe Noriega got Rick Rolled.

Pretty good list. Would I surrender to "I Fought the Law" or "Ironman"?

No, but Astley/Cher would be good enough.
If I told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about what I've gone through over the last 20 odd years, what it took to finally get where I am, people just wouldn't fucking believe it. So it's pointless. I now realize that I can't change people's minds, and I really don't want to or need to try. I'm at peace with it, and that's all that matters. - Edward Van Halen

I have a friend who is a Marine and was there for that, he told me all about it when he came back. He was a huge VH fan too.

There are some really good tunes on there that are counterbalanced by some really, really bad songs.
