Janie Liszewski did the IMPOSSIBLE she helped Eddie Van Halen get better. Deal with it.

Had an unbelievable time! Met Tito5150 and Madnathony and his significant other, Sherri. All were cool as shit. I will update as soon as I sober up which will probably be tomorrow morning. Excellent show!

Just got back from St. Louis. Great gig. This was my second show of the tour as I had made the trip to Indianapolis (the third show if I recall).

I did feel as if the St. Louis crowd was a little complacent. There just wasn't that buzz in the air as there was at the Indy show. Maybe it had something to do with the band as it's a routine now whereas the Indy show was fresh to them. The band certainly brought it tonight and I had a great time, but something about the energy level of the crowd was amiss.

Unique moment during Dave's dog show/Ice Cream Man ... as he started to make his way down from the stairs after the intro piece, I noticed his guitar cord didn't have much slack in it ... sure enough, half way down the stairs and the cord is stuck! Luckily Dave notices and turns around before the "Spinal Tap" moment when the guitar comes unplugged. But he was noticeably pissed off about it and had to fix it himself! Some roadie obviously dropped the ball on that one and it looked like Dave was giving him an earful off the microphone. He resumed the Ice Cream Man intro with a "where were we before we got interrupted" but it definitely affected his performance. He handled it like a pro, but it kind of took the wind out of the sails for a song or two.

We got a pretty good set list tonight, I was happy to hear "The Full Bug" thrown in there as that was a song they didn't play in Indy, got to see them do "Hear About it Later" again which is a personal favorite, and "Outta Love Again" was a real treat for a die hard (another song they didn't play in Indy). As for the current album "The Trouble with Never" was back in rotation ... that's a tune that's underrated on the new album in my opinion ... LOVE that breakdown in the middle where Dave does the spoken word thing.

The other surprise of the night for me was Eddie's guitar solo. I usually skip it on the bootleg recordings and avoid watching it on YouTube because frankly (this is sacrilege, I know) I'm sick of it. I've heard him do those licks a million times, I've tried to learn those licks myself and the guitar solo just doesn't do it for me anymore ..... or so I thought..... when you're in the same room with the master himself and he's flying all over the fretboard it kind of hits you all over again. Eddie Van Halen is the worlds greatest guitar player. Period. And it ain't even close. He's an amazing talent and I kinda feel bad for taking his solo spot for granted. I don't know if it was "schtick" or not, but when the band returned to the stage, Dave patted Eddie on the back and said "THAT was a great solo tonight and I've seen a few." I almost believed it was genuine because it sure looked/sounded like Eddie was hitting on all cylinders.

Anyway, thanks to the Mighty Van Halen and the city of St. Louis for another great rock and roll experience. And thanks to all the fellow die hards on the VH Links for giving me someplace to share my two cents.

    Long live Van Halen!

What a great show! I had a great time. Sorry I missed the meet up, but I had to finish some errands around the house and I got out the door later than I wanted to.

I agree a bit with gman6, it seemed like the crowd took awhile to get into the show. I was about to stand up and start the fist pounding on "Unchained" but no one in my area stood up! So I sat the whole time, but did my fair share of cheering from my seat.

I was glad I got to hear "Women in Love" and "Hear about it Later" live. Those were great. Actually, every song was good. Granted, DLR has a hard time hitting certain notes, and keeping up with the tempo of a song, but I thought he was pretty good. I sometimes skip "The Trouble with Never" on the album, but it was great live! Also, "Tattoo" benefits immensely from live performance.

Really enjoyed it, hope everyone has a blast during the rest of the tour!

PS. And props to Kool and the Gang for their opener! They were great! An odd pairing with Van Halen, but I really enjoyed their set!

Thought that was a GREAT show. I thought Eddie had a spectacular night. After all of the issues and now being older, you would never know it. I haven't seen him play that well, arguably since Balance and maybe going back to 5150.

I hear ya on the crowd. The one thing I wonder is, how many "hard core fans" were at that show. I LOVED the set list (although I would have liked to hear a couple of different tunes off the new album - OUTTA SPACE). Those classic treats for us hard core fans, may throw off the casual fan (too bad). I never thought I was gonna hear for my self live any of the following; "The Full Bug", "Outta Love Again", "Women In Love". That was GREAT to hear. I've been following the set lists on this tour, but I just didn't think I'd get that lucky.

I came away from that show thinking, if everything goes well, they aren't done putting out albums. Still floored at how good Eddie was considering health, time and space issues. Rock on!
