Default Your top 5 songs of the tour

Ok, time for another list. What are your top 5 songs of the tour so far? I will get it started. BTW, I went to the two MSG shows.

    1) Unchained - Always a great song no matter where in the set-list, but to hear it open the show at MSG2 was amazing. Knowing the band switched it up and uncorked this one for us was amazing. I was tipped off before the show by someone who saw set-list, so the surprise was not there, but it was still awesome. When I watch Youtube videos of the song I get chills.

    2) Ed's solo - To be able to see the greatest guitarist of all time palying right in front of my eyes in unreal. Yes, the greatest guitarist of all time, when all is said and done, he will be considered the greatest if not already. He resurrected himself and 30 years later he is still incredible.

    3) Panama - I believe it was MSG2, the crowd singing and noise was unreal.

    4) Beautiful Girls - When I left MSG2 with fellow linker and awesome concert goer Crazy Levi, he asked me my favorite song of night and surprisingly it was this song. The opening riff is awesome. It just resonated with me that night.

    5) Hear About it Later - Loved the fact they are breaking out songs they havent played, thanks Wolfie!

Honorable Mention # 1 - Daves video of the dogs and story

Honorable Mention # 2 - Playing the new songs, none made my list but love the new album and hearing these songs live.

Hear About it Later-The bass breakdown and then Ed ripping into the solo gave me huge goosebumps.

Hang em High- Dave kinda of butchered the lyrics at the Boston show but I had no idea it was coming and when they launched into it I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Woman In Love-Nailing this hidden gem pretty much every night.

Unchained-The best opening guitar riff in rock n roll history. Ill never get tired of it.

She's The Women- Of the new ones they are playing I like this one the best. Would still love to here As Is and Stay Frosty!

Everybody wants some : what's a classic ! oh yeah and the voice said it's ladies night ....

The trouble with never : the bridge is excellent !

Unchained : since few shows ! A nice JAM!

Hot For Teacher : I like the subtitue Mr Roth!

Chinatown : since the 18th concert , DLR can really sing this song and it's great !

and many more : women in love (backgrounds), Hear about it Later, the Full Bug, Somebody get me a doctor (the final, dave melodies too), she's the woman (perfect like the CD)...

    1. Unchained - As an opener it is one of the best to just get you in the VH party mood. It always makes the hair on my arms stand up.

    2. She's The Woman - I love this tune on the album and the way it is done live. The best so far of the new album that they are doing on tour.

3 & 4. Everybody Wants Some - Another great classic song that they just do a bang up job with live. So far Dave's banter in the middle has been great and always the right length. When they go right into Somebody Get Me A Doctor it is seamless. Watching the Mohegan Sun dvd last night and that part was great, just fucking kick ass. This for me is usually the point in the show where they are sonically kicking the audiences ass.

    5. This is a tough one, on one hand it's Women in Love. As the tour goes on it gets better and better. The other on is The Full Bug, just a great tune and awesome to hear live, and again as the tour rolls on it gets better and better.

    1. Unchained - Perfect opener to get the energy going. I thought I was going into a seizure when they came out in Pittsburgh!

    2. Everybody Wants Some - Drum intro and power chords give me goosebumps

    3. TIE - Romeo Delight/Somebody Get me a Doctor - These riffs are delicious, especially live.

    4. Women In Love - BG vocals push this one over the top. Awesome display by all 4 members, most cohesive song on the setlist.

All of mine are from MSG2

    1. Unchained - This was the best opener I've ever seen, period. I totally agree with jrnyc about the chills....simply awesome.

    2. The Full Bug - About 5 minutes before the show started, saw a post about Ed's guitar tech saying they rehearsed TFB and were going to play it. Very happy they did.

    3. Ed's solo - I recorded great-sounding audio of the whole thing and I play it back almost every day. He really is the best there ever was.

    4. Hear About it Later - I love Mean Street but glad to see HAIL becoming a staple. That bass break/guitar solo section is HEAVY.

    5. Hot for Teacher - DLR - "I've been up since the late eighties...I look a little rough, but I think I'm good to go..whaddya say Ed?" - classic!

for me being 17 and never getting to experience any tour till 2004, and being a huge huge huge die hards die hard fan I am really stoked on the deep cuts id never ever dream to have the chance to hear 2 of my fav's either Girl Gone Bad or Hear About it Later live ever! So for me:

    1. Hear About It Later
    2. Girl Gone Bad
    3. Romeo Delight I wish they could play this and GGB and HAIL
    4. Mean Street absolutely love Mean Street again I wish they could play this GGB RD and HAIL
    5. Hang Em High
    6. The Full Bug
    7. Outta Love
    8. Women In Love
    9. She's The Woman
    10. Trouble With Never

if I could be in charge of the Vancouver Set list I would take out Tattoo, Jump, Pretty Woman, I'll Wait, Ain't Talkin' Bout Love, You Really Got Me and Ice Cream Man and aside from all I listed above I would add:

You and Your Blues or Blood and Fire
    Beats Workin or Outta Space
    As Is or Big River
    Stay Frosty
Drop Dead Legs or Im The One
Take Your Whiskey Home or Feel Your Love Tonight
Little Guitars/Atomic Punk/On Fire/Secrets/ Any other deep cut or Young and Wild Would be fuckin sick even though it's unreleased I fucking love that song!!!!!
Now reason I went above and beyond was because I have a hard time with 5 and I would kill to hear those live even though this is a support tour for the new album I want to take advantage of songs I have been dreaming of hearing live forever!

    1. Unchained - leaves other bands drooling to write a song that opens the show like that one does.
    2. Hand Em High- did not get this one at our show but am stoked they have been playing it.
    3. HAIL- see above
    4. Blood and Fire - seems to not be in the rotation often
    5. Girl Gone Bad- sounded awesome

honorable mention to EVH's solo and Full Bug

Default Best Songs: "A Different Kind of Truth" tour

    My favorites so far...

    1. "Pretty Woman" Manchester, NH

I never thought that I'd put this song at the top of any VH list -- but I believe that this may be the definitive version of the song Sorry Roy, sorry VH circa '82.

    2. "Unchained" Tampa, FL

    Love the jam!!

    3. "Blood and Fire" Pittsburgh, PA

"I told you we was coming back... Say you missed us!"

    4. "The Full Bug" Philadelphia, PA

This was never one of my favorite tunes until I heard it played live... And now I love it. Philly got a great version.

    5. "Women in Love" Boston, MA

Awesome!!! One of the best nights of VH's tour thus far, overall.

    1. Unchained. Nothing beats the beginning of a Van Halen concert. 'specially w that song.

    2. She's the Woman. Love this tune.

    3. HAIL. My fave vh tune.

    4. GGB. Need I say more.

    5. I'll Wait. I love Eddie's solo in that song.

Eddie's solo spot I wouldnt call a song, but it's my favorite part of the show.

Only 5? I liked them all of the songs.
