"...It's not until forty years later when an incident on a commuter bus (where he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads) makes him a local hero where he's suddenly celebrated once again."

Um, that differs quite a bit from the real Epic Beard Man incident, which did not feature evil white people ganging up on abusing older and innocent black people. Although that is certainly politically correct, so much the better for the story, I suppose.

The real Epic Beard Man said something about about shoe-shining to a black dude, which may or may not have been an innocent inquiry, and then the black dude took offense. Two black ladies filming the altercation egged the black dude on to attack and he made the big mistake of hitting EBM. All while the Amberlamps lady listened to music and tried to ignore it. Amberlamps was the best part of that show, IMO.

It's Hollywood baby! Who cares about the truth? I'm waiting for this movie:

    Agincourt: 1415

The 1941 Philidelphia Project is reopened by the DoD... And immediately, disaster strikes! A volunteer squad of crack U.S. Army Rangers are inadvertandly sent through time and space.... The place... France... The year... 1415.

Outnumbered and outfought by the vicious French, the army of King Henry V of England considers retreat... Untill the Rangers intervene! The ensuing battle on the grounds of Agincourt becomes legend... and the "Archers" of King Henry V enter into myth...

    Coming soon, Spring 2013!

    Rangers lead the way!

So, what trying to say? That this movie isn't based off his character?

I know the stories aren't really comparable. But this is Hollywood. So if that's what you're getting at, I don't see how it really matters. I don't think this is supposed to be documentary or anything. If they can make Commando and Cobra why can't they make this? =)

They can make anything they want to. Its just not at all true to the real EBM story. Like I already said, it is more politically correct to have neo nazis beating up black folks instead of EBM smacking down a black dude. So more likely to not offend anyone and make some dough. It is better that way. Plus it fits into the whole Trayvon thing going on now, so it is timely. Good business decision, IMO. Almost all movies are careful about PC concerns and the "optics" now. That shit is important to most people.

Still, I hope EBM gets some royalties outta this!
