Default Guitar World Van Halen Special Collector's Issue

Just got the new Guitar World VH special. A bunch of Guitar World interviews from 78 till 08. Also a bunch of other articles and great pics. I really enjoyed the Ed and Wolfie interview from 2008. Should be in newstands next week.

Got all these specials so far. This will follow same formula, same interviews, new photos. Nothing new.

What? You mean Ed played drums and Al played guitar?

Next you are going to tell me that they were born overseas or some crazy shit like that.
Imagine a world without Eddie Van Halen.

"From the moment David Lee Roth appeared at the top of a giant runway that snaked through the Oklahoma City Ford Center audience Tuesday night, he wore the one thing that told every Van Halen fan that everything was right with the world. It was a maniacal Cheshire cat smile announcing happiness and enthusiasm that cannot be faked. Not only was the old band back together, it was thriving."

At least it will be Van Halen and it will be sitting there on the magazine rack at the local Walmart where so many people stand around looking at magazines. Never hurts to get the name out there.

Ya man. The family moved to America from Uganda to escape Kony. They only had $5150 and a tuba. That shows anything is achievable.

what a fucking crock of shit - the April GW has EVH on the cover with the headline of "50 greatest VH songs" - and now they're trying to go to the well again with old interviews? VH is the most dysfunctional band in the history of rock. Ed's eager to take the public's cash but can't give a measly interview. What a douche bag.

Breathe man. Ed isn't giving any interviews and hasn't for awhile. You'll notice the 30 year old picture of Ed on the cover. GW can and has rehashed all of that stuff many many times to make a buck. Since they own the rights to the covers and interviews, this can be done every month of the year. It's got nothing to do with Ed.

Yep, some of the same interviews in the book GW first did in 1997 and recently re-edited with two "newer" interviews last year.

And that book had all the same interviews bar two from a mag Guitar World did back in 1992 "Guitar Legends". As someone on this list said earlier, if it helps turn "younger" guys onto EVH and Van Halen... I dig it.

The long VH hiatus might just mean things like this work pretty well. What are old interviews to us could be a light bulb going off for some 13 year old kid who is getting curious about guitar from playing Rock Band.

And those 20-something girls who may not know the name "Van Halen"...they peruse those magazine racks too. They won't pick up Guitar World, but the name "Van Halen" will flash in front of their eyes for a second. (And if it's an old pic of Eddie, they might just check it out because he's "hot")
