Default Dave's plywood & powder slip n slide dancefloor?

Last night in DC, I watch a group of roadies assemble a panel of several pieces of plywood connected together and then powdered with talc or baby powder. They taped the platform down to the stage right in the middle where Roth stands. The band came out and Dave kinda slipped around and danced on the platform, sliding here and there. Is this new??? I've never seen him do this before, and I don't remember seeing it any of the videos from any of the previous concerts.

Ed came over and kinda slid his feet around, and then rolled his eyes. I'm thinking this is new?

I thought maybe he preferred the feel of powdered plywood for his jump kicks or something. It was strange.

It's new for this tour anyway. I watched them assemble it briefly prior to the AC show. There is a youtube vid out there of it being assembled prior to the Toronto show. Now I forget which show, but either at the AC or Reading shows Ed actually went over to it and did a funky kind of leg motion / dance move on it while he was playing guitar. Was kind of funny to see. But yes, it is basically to allow Dave to do a wider range of moves during his performance, which include forward or backward slides.

It's been there the whole tour. And I doubt it's made of plywood. It looks like a custom parquet floor designed for Dave to slide around and dance on. If you've watched a lot of the videos from the tour on YouTube you'll see Ed and Wolf slide across it here and there as well.

You can see the parquet design better in this picture from 02.28.12 at MSG:

You can get one for yourself if you'd like! (Note: If you can't find something on Google then it simply doesn't exist!)

Interesting. I just hadn't seen it (or noticed) it in any prior tour videos.

After looking closer, I do remember that it looked like a dancefloor (not plywood). It was odd watching the roadies clean the stage prior to the performance. They had like 5 guys with swiffers covering every inch of the stage making sure it was totally clean. I was worried someone in the band had developed a germ phobia.

This topic put me into full Google mode this afternoon because in looking at the pictures from this tour I've thought the shoes Dave is wearing are like bizarre oversized wrestling shoes. Didn't put too much thought into it but after this discussion of the "dance floor" it made me think they're probably some sort of dancing sneakers (which surprise of surprise, they do make—thanks Google!). Come to find out, I think they're Taekwondo shoes (specifically Adidas SM II), which makes sense for Dave.

What I really want to know (not really) is where do you buy those complex-stitched leather pants Dave wears? That stuff has to be custom made!

Next we'll discuss Ed's choice of shirts, Wolf's wristbands, and the brand of Al's sunglasses.

And let's not even get into the topic of Dave's jackets...

OK. So firstly, how are the shoes bizarre. And even more interestingly . . . . how exactly are they oversized?

Well, if you really want to know about Ed's shirts for the tour, most of them came from GUNS Clothing... LOL! http://www.facebook.com/GUNSClothing
