Default My 9-year-old rocking "Everybody Wants Some!" on guitar

My 9-year-old rocking out on guitar to "Everybody Wants Some!" He truly has the VH in his blood. I'm super ridiculously proud of him.

Woo, good stuff Kevin. You should get him one of those mini strats. He's fearless. A little palm muting lesson and he's off to the races. Tell him to keep up the good work.

Haha! He's had a mini-Strat since he was 6. Guess whose guitars he wants to play now?!

I walked in a little later and he was playing his little Strat, I asked "Why did you switch guitars?" and I glanced over at my Charvel and the D-string was broken. He just sort of looked at me sheepishly -- "I told you not to pull up on the bar too high." He goes, "I know...I'm sorry." I said, "No big deal, dude, it's just a D-string."

Awesome, sounds great! My son is 10 and has been taking guitar lessons for over a year and a half. We jam quite often. Here's us jamming to Panama in my VH influenced basement a couple of weeks ago:

I got my nephew into guitar and he's quite good...but so far he's not into Eddie. (Probably because I don't play anything like Eddie myself) I need to start working on him.

Nice job! Looks like you got a good kid there, Kevin! Raising him right

Maybe there has to be some future to Rock. Many of us 30 and 40 year olds with kids getting exposed to music that actually sounds musical.

I always found it to confounding to figure out so I always stuck to the blues rock stuff. This kids got potential for greatness!Way cool.

Great stuff Kev. Get him in a band as early as possible and get him playing to crowds. It will improve his confidence to no end, thats what I do with my son and he loves it.
He's 10 and here he is playing Smoke with my band in a packed pub a few months ago...

    EXCELLENT! Great stuff.

He's been in two rock camps and he's officially enrolled at Austin's School of Rock. We've been quibbling about what he wants to do for his talent show -- he's constantly changing his mind, but I think this "Everybody Wants Some!"/whammy bar phase is going to last a while! The only thing is he does normally sing too, but I told him he cannot sing any of the lyrics to "Everybody Wants Some!" in third grade. He still doesn't have a clue what "some" means.
