6 Weeks Later Where Does ADKOT Rank Among "The Heavenly 7?"

In the weeks since the release of ADKOT have you all "placed" it with a ranking among the Dave Era records...? Mine looks like this...

    1984
    VH
    WACF
    FW
    ADKOT
    VH 2
    DD

I'm sure i'll catch shit for ranking VH2 at #6 but I just don't get the same hype from that record as I do from the others... And DD is all bc of the covers, obviously. more original material and it would easily have been 3 or 4...

I originally had ADKOT has #5 out of 7. But the album continues to grow on me and I can't stop listening to it. So it has moved up to #4 out of 7 for me.

Overall, ADKOT has exceeded my expectations.

My top 3 has not changed. In no particular order, VH1, Fair Warning, and 1984.

It might be my third favorite of the seven...and I can't think of the other two right away.

    this is fair.

Right now i'd put it 4th (behind vh1, 84, fw) but it'll likely drop over time.

Boy the first 4 are kinda hard to line up but ADKOT really doesnt get in there.
Its even hard to put it before VH2 but we'll slide it in there what the heck. A for effort..
7 Great Albums either way. DD just had a couple of ducks that never clicked for me that should never have been on there so it has to go to the bottom.

IMO, "A Different Kind of Truth" is (Roth-led) Van Halen's most diverse album -- of consistently high quality.

I cannot rate it ahead of "1984," or "Van Halen," which feature such excellent songwriting.

I do, however, think that it's better (overall) than "Van Halen II" and "Diver Down."

I think that it has fewer throw-aways than "5150" and on par with "Women and Children First" -- high praise indeed.

Way to early for that for me, not enough time has passed.

However, right now I like it as a whole more than DD & 1984, but I like several individual songs on both of those albums more than any on ADKOT.

    For me its:

    1. Van Halen, IMO it is one of the top 3 debut albums in rock history.

    2. Fair Warning, a deeper and darker album than the first two.

    3. 1984, once again VH did something nobody expected, KEYBOARDS in a guitar driven band.

    4. ADKOT, almost 30 years since their last album with Roth they took a little from all of the past albums and put it together with a modern sound. Never expected it to be this good, not for one second and I love it more and more each time I hear it. Outta Space is my favorite but that has changed a few times already, it is that good of an album.

    5. Van Halen II, if Van Halen 1 were a double album, VH2 would be disc (or record) #2, it had that same attitude.

    6. WACF, another stellar album but to me is one of the ones I listen to the least with the exception of a few songs.

    7. Diver Down, even though its hard to call it a "let down" album this one was except for a couple of songs.

Yeah, when the album first came out people in here were "Rank your favorite songs!!!" but to me it was way too early. Time will tell.

Oh, and I prefer Magnificent 7 to "heavenly 7". Really? Heavenly? K.

I don't think I could even rank the "classic 7" Roth Van Halen albums to tell you the truth. I Love each of them for various reasons. I can say this... those 7 albums are really the only albums by ANY band that I love (and I like a TON of rock bands) that I don't skip a track. Not a single song! That's the magic of Van Halen for me, they are the only band that in my opinion has NO fillers...at least the Roth albums...just my opinion of course
