Exactly, it sounded like bored 8th graders who were assigned a book they didn't want to read and then had to give a report about it. I swear, the "round and around and around and around..." shit was so bad that if they said before they went on "Man, VH sucks, I can't believe we have to do this. Let's go out and make fun of one of their songs." they couldn't have done a better job. And Slash's ATBL intro nearly gave me a seizure. There are untrained 9 year olds sitting in Guitar Center right now playing that more accurately. As I said... ugh.

Probably no to both.

Hey if you search this site for any topic that didn't happen 10 minutes ago, we would not be posting much of anything as its pretty much all in there.
No worries, I'm sure he'll do a search before posting anything on this site again. I think.... Poor guy.
You know when you really look at it, he was really posting more about the guys behind him having this discussion, than anything else, and their conversation was in fact, new news....so...ya know technically you guys all misunderstood him. See Harper not everyones against you

This is the part that still irks me. How hard was it to find an artist who actually likes VH to make the speech? IMO, Dweezil Zappa would have been the perfect guy to give a speech and represent EVH on a Dave era song. Rivers Cuomo and Billy Corgan would have been good choices as well.

Maybe others said no because they knew Ed Al and Dave wouldn't be there.

I like Dweezil, would have been a good choice. But is he well known enough? Maybe, because of the last name.

Gene Simmons is good, but they are not in the hall..lol.

    Wolfie should have inducted them....

Slash is a pretty big Van Halen fan....he seems to really admire Eddie! The bad thing is he's just not a great public speaker on stage and he isn't the best person to do a heartfelt introduction. The rest of VR are not any better Duff has his moments but not in front of a audience. I agree with Dweezil. He would have been a great choice. Bad thing is the past couple of years the R&R HOF love to have a current popular group or singer induct some of these legends. At the time VR was pushing their album and were selected because they are in the Hard Rock genre. As with their voting process the R&R HOF doesn't do much homework on their choices.

It's not about the last name or how well their known. Brett could have gotten up there and raised a goose bump and wrung a slight tear out of the people more than a bunch of guys with roots to the old LA rock scene reading someone else's words off of post it notes stuffed in their pockets.

I was at the RRHOF the night VH was inducted. Velvet Revolver did ATBL fairly decent....but Runaround really sucked. You could barely tell what they were playing.

I never really thought about who chose them. Does the inductee not have any say at all who inducts them and plays their music? When I think of something like the NFL HOF the inductee chooses whoever they want, whether it's another famous player or a totally anonymous high school coach or family member. I wonder if there was even much contact between the R&R HOF and VH. Eddie was so out of it he was probably sitting in some recovery room watching TV and said "Hey, look, VH is being inducted into something or other. That's us isn't it?" But couldn't Sammy and Mike have had some input? I can't even imagine seeing Sammy's face as VR "played" Runaround. I'm surprised he didn't run onto the stage and start throwing punches. VR was either mocking it or they simply didn't even know what the song was. Utterly criminal.

For those who haven't seen it, here's the Velvet Revolver performance:

I have no problem with ATBL. It's not note for note, but it doesn't have to be. It's got a good rock vibe, and they at least tried.

Runaround - which starts up at 3:44 - is just fucking abysmal. It's basically 90 seconds of noise while screaming "around and around!" (which isn't even a lyric in the song) in monotonic unison. Perhaps the worst perfrormance in HOF history.
