Default More NEW songs live soon....?

    From lwk5150

    Rehearsal at Buffalo show.

Great show! Eddie was totally into it and on fire. Also, don't put too much into the thing about Roth and the blowers, I think its part of the act now, he didn;t do his "I forgot the words.." bit.

I got to the arena early to hear sound check from the lobby and that was wild - they soundchecked for over 45 minutes! Maybe because of the layoff between shows... I think they did 9 songs, including HoneyBabySweetieDoll and Beats Working!

Like I said Eddie's playing was phenomenal. Alex is just unreal on the drums, his solo was sweet! David Lee's vocals sounded great all night. And Wolfie is the real deal, did a great job out there.

I'll try and post some pics later - lot of cell phone videos around me so those should start popping up too - Buffalo has a 4Am closing time for its bars so many of us are just getting home now :-)

Dead serious! They sounded awesome too (no vocals though, except for Eddie and Wolf's backing parts). I was so fired up when they kicked into them because I thought they'd bust them out in Buffalo last night - no luck though.

The soundcheck was really sweet - I couldn't believe they played so long. The crew told me they generally soundcheck around 4PM - so if you get to another show early its worth walking into the arena and checking out...

I would be shocked if there are any additional songs played from the new album for the rest of the tour. More deep cuts from the cataloged? Hopefully.

One, they obviously don't give a shit about promoting the album. That sucks on its own level, because the tunes deserved more than what they have given.

Two, Dave couldn't handle most of the new cuts. That's just the reality, I think. I would LOVE for him to prove me wrong.

And it's a crying shame because I have no doubt Ed, Al and Wolf could rip through the whole album damn near note perfect right now with little or no rehearsals. They are THAT locked in right now. Aside from She's the Woman, I can't think of new songs I want to hear LESS than the ones they chose to play live.

I've said it before.. but I'd love to hear "Big River". It's short.. they could easily squeeze that into the set. What's another 3 mins? "Beats Working" would be a great song to play. That solo would be an awesome moment in the setlist.. it'd be a cool chance for the band to slow things down and do a mini jam.

I'm not sure Dave can handle much of the new stuff live ... He's been pretty lousy on China Town the entire tour and the clips from the 'friends and family' show in L.A. when they tried "Blood and Fire" was pretty rough around the edges too.

I love the new album, but I'd almost rather hear some more deep cuts from the classic albums when I make it to St. Louis for my second show.

new cuts = we've never heard live. if it's botched, it's embarrassing

old cuts = good chance we've heard it before, we know what it should sound like, but we're forgiving (in general) if it's not.

So, slim to no chance on anything new, and slim chance on much being changed up. Dave vocals have been spotty this tour and clips from the Buffalo show didn't sell me on the prospect of trying to secure more shows.

I was at the first MSG show which people said he had better vocals at, and I thought he was a solid 85%, but not better. The rest of the band, lit it up like it was a fireworks show, they were THAT good, including Wolfie.

Dave could handle Honeybabysweetiedoll without a problem. It is probably the easiest song vocally off the new album. That riff would sound monstrous in an arena.

As for Beats Workin', I am not totally sold Dave could pull that off live.

My friend and I talked about how they should have played Stay Frosty on our way home from Buffalo. How bad ass would it be if at the end of Ice Cream Man during the "all my flavors are guaranteeeeeed to..." and replace "Satisfy" with "Stay Frosty" and just jump in to Stay Frosty where all the instruments kick in.

Even if they don't play any other new stuff, it is great to see all the old songs that haven't been played for decades being played again.

Im starting to think Dave cant handle any of these songs between the bad singing and the fact that he cant remember the words to almost any of em. But fuck it, I still wanna hear em

I believe if Dave can pull off singing songs he recorded over 30 years ago, he can sing songs off of ADKOT.

Perhaps Dave cannot perform the songs from adkot 100% just like the album but for my money half the performance from the album with Dave and getting ed,al,wolf ripping it up just like the album is well worth it to me. But maybe to the casual listener this is not the case.
Janie Liszewski did the IMPOSSIBLE she helped Eddie Van Halen get better. Deal with it.

I think the Van Halens are cursed--Amazing musicians without a mouthpiece. They continue to have singer problems. I love Dave as much as anyone, but he's struggling live. He's trying though, I'll give him that. Even Sammy during the '04 tour was relying heavily on Mike to carry the high parts. I think Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang are outlasting their singers.

I wonder how good Wolfgang is at singing? Maybe they could be a trio like Cream. Lol. Yeah right...

Having said all that, I still think they are kicking ass on this tour.
