Default Sammy Hagar bashes new Van Halen CD without hearing it

SAMMY HAGAR BASHES NEW VAN HALEN CD WITHOUT HEARING IT

    3/9/2012

Although he told Rolling Stone last fall that he would be the "first guy in line" to buy A Different Kind Of Truth, Van Halen's new album with original frontman David Lee Roth, ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar admitted to the Boston Phoenix that he has only heard a little bit of the record since it came out last month -- but that still hasn't stopped him from bashing it.

Hagar said, "When I heard 'Tattoo,' that single . . . it wasn't a song that made me run out and buy their record. And so I haven't heard it. I haven't downloaded it, I haven't done anything." He added, "I heard another one that was kinda goofy too, and then I heard, on the radio, 'She's The Woman,' and I thought that was kinda cool. That one sounds like what I would expect from Van Halen, a little closer to it. The other stuff didn't sound like what I was expecting, that's for sure."

Hagar also spoke about the current lineup of Van Halen ignoring all the material from his four albums with the band in its new live show. Hagar explained, "The difference between Dave and I in that band, besides all the other million things, is that he can't sing any of the Van Hagar-era songs. Maybe he could do 'Finish What Ya Started,' possibly -- so that makes it kind of weird for (Alex and Eddie Van Halen), I think, to take 11 years out of that thing."

During his time in the band, Hagar himself only ever agreed to perform four songs from Van Halen's first six albums with Roth. That left a lot of the group's all-time classics out of the set for Hagar's own decade in the lineup.

Hagar's band Chickenfoot, which also features ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, is launching a spring tour in May that will find the band playing in Los Angeles right around the same time as Van Halen. Hagar admitted that he was ticked off about the scheduling initially, saying, "It's just gonna cause a needless competition between the fans, and I don't like that. I want the fans to feel like they can love Van Halen and that they can love Chickenfoot totally the same."

Dave shouldn't feel forced to have to sing a Sammy era song at all. The Roth albums by far are more superior and written for Dave.

Could you see Dave singing Dreams? Shit...I am so over this crap I am gonna stop reading these kind of posts.
Imagine a world without Eddie Van Halen.

"From the moment David Lee Roth appeared at the top of a giant runway that snaked through the Oklahoma City Ford Center audience Tuesday night, he wore the one thing that told every Van Halen fan that everything was right with the world. It was a maniacal Cheshire cat smile announcing happiness and enthusiasm that cannot be faked. Not only was the old band back together, it was thriving."

Thank you, fans and friends and odds and ends. And now, for you gals and guys, a few words to the wise. You Jims and Sals are my best pals. And to look your best for the big contest, just be yourselves and have a ball. That's what it's all about, after all. So, forget about the camera and think about the beat. We'll give the folks at home a real big treat. Don't worry about where the camera is, just keep on dancin', that's your biz. Hey, if I tap your shoulder, move to the side. Let the others finish the ride! This is the event you've all been waiting for, the National Dance-Off. And away we go with Sam v. Dave Show!

Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

I am curious what other song he has heard that is "kinda goofy too". Maybe "Stay Frosty"? That tells me he has heard the album. What a liar.

All these "Sammy bashes VH" threads stem from M.C.'s published interviews. Do people not understand how websites regurgitate print media?

Repackaged does not equal new, folks.
