Eddie Van Halen said as much. This is not anything new. Let's not start another tired debate.

    Sigh...Sammy, Sammy, Sammy...

Just leave it at a Ronnie Montrose tribute...that's all you have to do.

Also...if Ted Templeman told you he was around for the name change to Van Halen, then old Ted was sniffing glue.

95% of the article is Sam remembering his time with, the now deceased, Ronnie Montrose and you find one line, which is in fact accurate, regarding VH to moan about?

If you can't see the relevancy in what Sam said in regards to the main point of the article or the connection Sam was trying to make, then you're stupid. Don't worry I'm not directing that totally at you. If it wasn't you making a big deal out of what Sam said, I'm sure it would have been somebody else.

I thought somebody would at least wait until BlabberMouth edited those comments to their own liking before a thread like this got started.

I think i can recall the 1986 interview where EVH confirms this is true. It was in "Guitar For The Practicing Musician," if I recall correctly. It shows the influence of the Montrose debut on the VH debut - which is undeniable.

Warner Brothers, TT, Donn Landee, 4 piece, blonde singer, name after the guitar player's last name, etc.

    Bite me.

I'll use smaller words for you on what I was trying to get at; Why must a Rememberance of someone that has nothing to do with Van Halen be made so...

    Holy FUCK!!!!!!

Because Sammy was in Montrose. Ronny Montrose was in Montrose. Sammy then went on to play in VH. In the early days VH was influenced by Montrose, as outlined in the story where Eddie introduced himself to Sammy in 1977 and mentioned how influential Montrose was. Ronny Montrose was the guitar player in Montrose. Eddie van Halen was/is the guitar player in Van Halen. Sammy was briefly considered for VH's lead singers position by WB and Templeman, due to his work with MONTROSE.

Ronnie Montrose is now dead. See the connection?!?!?!?!?!? See what Sammy was trying to do there?!?!?!?!?

Read what the fuckin' guy actually said as opposed to automatically assuming that he was taking a fucking shot at Van Halen.
