Default Joe Interview (New amp content)

    http://www.guitarworld.com/interview...ed-his-3d-film

His new amp sounds pretty sweet. If I needed a 100w monster, I would definitely be giving his new JVM a serious look... I wonder if they are going to have EPA like a lot of the new Marshall signature amps...

The guy is definitely a workaholic... I feel like I need a vacation after hearing how busy he is...

Joe Satriani What I really wanted to do was to work it out so if I had the perfect sound at 95db I could go up just a couple decibels and maybe have just a little more mid-range. So what I did was ask Santiago to just make OD2 a carbon copy of OD1. That sounds sort of strange and weird. Generally when they are making amps, they want every channel to be different to throw in as much as possible. We were able to accomplish two things. By having those two channels identical, it affords the player the ability to have the same setup at so many different volumes
That makes a huge amount of sense to me. It's the way I have done things for a while, since getting the Fractal. I find a tone that offers me all the dynamics I need for playing a solo, save it as a preset, then copy it over and save it as another preset with a slightly lower volume to use as my rythm tone. That way, I can pull of tricks while playing rythm without the need to stamp on a pedal for added sustain, compression etc. Once I've done that I'll use the same preset and add different effects and save them as presets too, it affords me a consistent tone that is only coloured by additional effects....Does that make sense?

c'mon Joe...first Peavey then you jump ship to Marshall...and I get you have a sig now. I love the dude, seen him 10x probably..but the salesman in him gets old.

The obvious things are that there is no reverb. We have replaced the reverb with four individual noise gates that can be programmed for each of the channels. This is something I thought was important for doing TV and studio work where you need to have certain setups. You need it to be quiet, but you need to have it come in roaring with gain stages up high for certain parts. There are so many great reverb pedals. Like the little Wet Reverb Pedal (Neunaber Technology). I really love that one.

The fucking king of reverb and delay has an amp minus reverb. So I guess we'll see a Satch endorsed Little Wet pedal very soon folks!

Yeah. Switching from one company to another, once.

    What a salesman.

Satch has his own delay pedal, in case you didn't already know that since you're such a big fan.

For someone who can't stand people who hawk gear and jump from company to company, I think the vhlinks may not be the forum for you... EBMM, Peavey, Fender... Who's going to "get it" next???

What the fuck is wrong with this place??? I can't even start a thread about Joe's new Marshall without some douchebag Eddie cocksucking fanboy coming in and attempt to turn it into a pissing contest... Sorry, buddy, but I think you pissed all over yourself... Also, clean Ed's man chowder off your chin...

Delay is the best. Even slightly it adds such a cool vibe. Love it.

I've never really messed too much with delay... One of these days I may have to play around with it... For the time being, a smidge of 'verb seems to do the job just fine... If it ain't broke...

Thanks for the support on my rant, Brett, DD, and MF5150... I wish I didn't have a reason to go off like that... But I guess when we're dealing with people with less teeth due to genetics, it's kind of expected...

A little funny side story about delays. I ended up walking out of the store with a Boss DD7 delay pedal for $100

I walked into my local guitar store a couple months back planning on buying a delay pedal. Had my eyes on either Joe's Time Machine or the Boss DD3 or DD7. After I heard the price of Joe's I immediately knew I wasn't going to bu that one (little too pricey for me).

So I asked what the prices were for the Boss DD3/7 were. $120 for the DD3 and $179 for the DD7. I ask to try the DD7. The pedal is in the display case sitting on top of it's respective box. I try the pedal out for a couple minutes and then I decide I'm going to buy it.

The guy behind the counter asks me which box was the pedal sitting on in the display case. I point to the one it was and he grabs it, puts the pedal inside and we go to the cash.

He scans the pedal and tells me, "That will be $108 and change." Obviously, there is a mistake. I say nothing and just pay for it. As he's handing me the box I see that it says, "Boss Equalizer" on it. He scanned the Equalizer box and put the DD7 in it and, I ended up walking out with a $200 pedal for $108.

I never have shit like that happen to me, so I was happy.

Anyways, sorry to go off topic.

Where were we? Oh yeah. Joe's a hack salesman and he sounds like he plays guitar in a sewer drain.

wow - looks like a touched a nerve.

Instead of responding like Dodge (like a child), let me respond like an adult and I'll move on. The point of my post was Joe is a sales whore - and that opinion comes from his parting of ways with Peavey which was not amicable to say the least. Does he have the right to switch? Most certainly. But it is of my opinion that he is a whore - I thought this forum was a place where you can express your opinions.

Also, let me state that I am not an Edward fanboy, I prefer Joe's playing. I love VH as a band, but as a guitarist I certainly prefer Joe's style and tone.

I also know that Joe has his own Delay, and wah, and overdrive...etc....and probably a new reverb pedal soon...

And finally I ask Brett "what is getting old"? If you took my post as negative then - well I'm not sorry - it's my opinion. I did not slam the original poster nor was it my intent to slam any poster - it was just my opinion.

    Have a nice weekend gentlemen.
