Default HOW MUCH IS VAN HALEN MAKING A NIGHT ON THIS TOUR?

    12,000 people x $150 = $1,800,000 a night?
Who knows how much they get to keep? etc.

Dave should be very happy with this, not like in Chicago last night!

UNITED CENTER: Its exterior bears a striking resemblance to that of Chicago Stadium. It seats 19,717 (not including standing room) for hockey (highest attendance at a Blackhawks game in 2012 was 22,077 vs. St. Louis), 20,917 (not including standing room) for basketball (highest attendance at a Bulls game in 2012 was 22,763 vs. Memphis) and up to 23,500 for concerts.

I am guessing they are grossing close to a million per night. I have no idea what the net would look like. But there is a lot of cheesecake and plenty of mouths to feed.

I assume that VH gets a certain guarantee and the promoter/venue make money on food, drink, parking, etc.

I thought I read somewhere that the band negotiates the merchandise rights for a flat fee and uses the money to finance the start up of the tour. In other words, a companyy pay VH x amount and then has to make their nut by charging $40 a pop for $5 shirts. Maybe Jeff can answer that one.

Arena acts get a guarantee sum per show from the promoter. For the last few years, KISS and Rush have had the same guarantee per show of $500,000. Based on the ticket prices for VH, which is similar to them, VH probably also gets 500k per show (although I don't know for sure). The promoter then sets ticket prices based on the expected amount of tickets sold, and for him to make a profit after paying the band. A friend of mine who has been close with people in the industry for years (he's a big KISS fan) was telling me on the last KISS tour in the U.S. in '09 - '10, that the overhead for keeping the show on the road, paying everyone in the crew, renting the venue, etc, was about 175k of the 500k, so the profit was about 325k per show. Most of that went in Gene and Paul's pocket since Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer are on salary, they're not "official" band members.

Another question is; Are they splitting it 4 ways?

They should take 80% of what they gross and split it 3 ways between Ed, Al, and Dave.
Then take 15% and invest it into the band (like new P.A.'s and stuff)LOl.

And then give Wolfy the remaining 5% because they are only playing 3 of the new songs.

    Tree fiddy.
What once upon a time made Van Halen unique in the progression of metal and hard rock (besides Eddieís prowess as a guitarist) was its sense of fun, its willingness to be not just over the top, but weird.

It all depends on whether Dave was still under contract after the first tour or did the first contract expire. I'm assuming the sisters had control of the VH name therefore giving them alot of leverage against Dave as to who gets what on the tour. I would think that he'd have more equal footing for a second or even third contract as far as this tour. You never know. They might have just said screw it. Split it four ways. Even a four way split is plenty of money for each member.

I want to be the promoter then. If they are grossing close to $2 million in one night and VH only gets $500,000 of that, that leaves the promoter with 1.5 million to pay the hall and take their profit. I bet Van Halen winds up with closer to 1 million per show, and only makes $500,000 when the show doesn't sell well. These shows so far have sold well. How much does it cost to book The United Center for 1 night?

    2M+ gross per show
    1M profit goes to VH
    500k goes to promoter
    500k for expenses, crew, etc.

I'm sure it isn't cheap. Electricity, water, sewer, etc alone for a facility that size is gonna add up. Vendors and parking attendants generate extra profit but security and other personell like ticket takers , the people who seat you and such all get paid and generate no extra profit. Yet they get paid. That shit adds up. Don't forget medical and fire personell.
