There will indeed be an official tab book of ADKOT coming out! They are working hard on it right now. Should be out sometime soon.

The book mentioned above that has ALL the VH songs before ADKOT in it is the "Ultimate Song Pages - Van Halen Complete Guitar Tab"

Does it have the other instrument tabs in it?

Unfortunately, a large percentage of tab books don't have the bass, drums, keys, vocals, etc.

That has always looked to me to be just the guitar tabs, am I correct?

The solo is cool. Ed is basically playing major scales off of each chord starting on the Major 7th. The backing chords are mainly root 5th so he can get away with more, he could have went major or minor with the scales. It's simple but it's a bit different for Ed. It's interesting to see and hear how he plays over the changes as opposed to sticking in one key over all the chord changes.

By the way they need a Power Tab version of As Is on Ultimate Guitar. All they have is a Guitar Pro version.

Received my ADKOT Tab book from VHND over the weekend (thanks Jeff!). The book seems to be very detailed, some songs have up to 3 guitar parts outlined. I havent had time to go through all the songs but they seem pretty accurate, and alot of the songs are in alternate tunings not just in Eb or Db.

Couple of things I noticed about the ADKOT Tab book, some of the songs have notations that state "the song is whole step higher than written", or "song is 2 whole steps lower than written", WTF is that all about? Also, the tab has music written by Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang Van Halen. We all know song of the songs were written before Wolfgang was even born. IDK.

Jeff also threw in a copy of "the Inside" from the III days that I had never seen before.

Don't you know that Wolfgang did write some of this material way back but he did it "in utero". Ha, even that line doesn't work since he wasn't even in a uterus when a number of these songs were originally written. They are also considering these to be a fresh take on the songs as well so the writing credits probably make more sense in that light.

Yep, I took the same deal from Jeff and he threw in the extra items when shipping my ADKOT album and tab book. They write the musical notation and tabs as if it is in standard tuning for strings 1 - 6. I think Tattoo is the only song which actually is in standard tuning. But as you know Ed drops the tuning a half step for many CVH songs and on this album he has some crazy tunings that they document above each song. So you're placing your fingers on the fretboard as they indicate but it sounds a half step, two full steps, etc. lower because you have your guitar at an alternate tuning.

They seem to have made a few small mistakes in the tuning sections. For instance in As Is for low E string 6 they say tune to E flat and pull the D-tuna to drop two full steps. Well the D-tuna only drops one full step and you're trying to get down to B so the string would originally have to be tuned to D flat / C sharp prior to pulling the D-tuna to get down to the correct note. The D-tuna that drops pitch two full steps hasn't been released yet. Also, on The Trouble With Never in the tuning section they say to tune down a half step. They have low E string 6 tuned accordingly at E flat, etc. but on string 1 high E they have it at E. Not sure how that's going to work out, ha.

It's a pretty monumental body of work for a guitar-heavy album like this that was only released a few months ago. I think if people use the tab book along with some common sense and watching youtube vids of Ed where applicable it is an excellent resource to have for the relatively low price. Some background knowledge of Ed's techniques in general goes a long way as well.
