    Default Extremely Proud of EVH

    Hey all,

Mods if this has been discussed go ahead and close.

After watching some of the opening night vids and listening to ADKOT constantly I just wanted to express how proud I am of Eddie for getting his life in order and getting back to kicking ass on the guitar. I think we take it for granted sometimes, but he could have very easily ended up like Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston. In fact there was a time where I was convinced that this would be the case.

I started playing guitar in 1993 after going to the RHRN tour because of Ed, so I am thrilled that the man that first got me into the instrument is back in top form with a kick ass album to boot, and seems to have kicked his addictions. Not everyone does, and we could easily be talking about how great a band Van Halen "was" instead of "is."

Thanks Ed, and all that helped him to get back to this point.

Agreed! I am proud of Eddie as well. I have seen many people not make it back from the brink, and I am glad Eddie did. He seems to be in a great place spritually right now. With each listen of the new CD and watching of UTube vids, it seems Eddie found that sweet spot in his soul for making and playing great music again!

Rock on Edward!!! We are listening!

Great post and I totally agree. Eddie, and the whole band actually, have been performing like they MEAN it. Ed is reminding everyone "Um, yeah I'm still the king of 6 strings and here's why". Great to see.

He seems determined to be a good example for his son - and as a father I appreciate that more than anything.
What once upon a time made Van Halen unique in the progression of metal and hard rock (besides Eddie’s prowess as a guitarist) was its sense of fun, its willingness to be not just over the top, but weird.

I give two thumbs up to EVH too...

There were moments in 2004 that were hard for any fan to bear.

Jump to 2012, and EVH is on fire. I had my doubts in the past, but after seeing what I've seen this year, EVH is probably at his all time best. He can play. He can write. My favorite songs are not the demo based material, but the new stuff they came out with...

Agreed. As a father of a 10 month old boy myself I have really enjoyed watching Ed and Wolf play together, I look forward to hopefully doing the same (even if it's only in the garage) with my son.

My son's birth helped me to cut down on my drinking - not that I approached Ed territory, but I can really respect that he seems to be doing this in part for the love of his son, and that can really help to keep a change like this permanent.

I was thinking the same thing.
Lord knows Wolf probably saw some stuff in recent years that Ed wishes he hadn't.
Now he's showing how to come back and be better than ever!

I am very proud of his come back not only musicaly but personally. We all saw the rough shape he was in from 2003-2007 and probably before that. His music is a huge gift and Im glad we are getting more this year!

    Rock on Ed!

Agreed! I can't believe I'm hearing Eddie the King again. I thought his days of playing like he does on ...Truth were long over.

Maybe it's true: Wolfie made Van Halen better...deal with it!
