I think it's a bigger commentary about how those with a Y chromosome dominate churches and religion.

What does religion and church have to do with birth control? Is this Iran?

It is pretty sickening to say the least. The women were right to walk out.

I thought that this was a conference about freedom of religion and constitutional law. Now though it's suddenly become all about women's rights? Funny.

Actually, you make a good point. But I don't think it hurts to have a dialogue on the lack of women in this conversation, especially when it comes to those "in charge" of various Churches. But this is a first amendment issue, yes.

If anyone feels up to answering me, though, I was in Vegas for Valentine's, and as I was riding up to the 53rd floor at the Planet Hollywood Westgate Towers, I thought about how unnatural the elevator was. To climb is natural--but not to just stand there and be elevated quickly. Standing is standing, not climbing by not climbing. Since this conversation hinges on the Catholic feelings on contraceptives, and that idea hinges on natural law, and since sex is for procreation, not fun, blocking through contraceptives is against the natural ways of God.

But, as an honest question, where does that stop? I really don't mean to make light of this, I am just hoping for an explanation. You could argue that when God gave us the ability to stand, he didn't intend for us to be able to stand and be elevated by electronic means 53 stories. But if technology and progress is allowed, then why not condoms?

Is this actually Catholic dogma? Are there any provisions for Catholic women who've had hysterectomies? Or Catholic men who've gone through testicular cancer treatment?

Sorry for what is an obvious affront to Catholics, but man; that church has some peculiar rules.

What better group of folk to discuss sex and contraception than Catholic priests.

Because a discussion on contraception like this has nothing to do women's rights.

No, actually, it doesn't. Women's rights is certainly not at issue here. Contraception in all of its forms will be available to women of all ages as usual regardless of the outcome of this Obama HHS fiasco. The only issue at hand is who will be forced to pay for it, and the constitutionality of a government in obvious violation dictating these things to its people.

Yup. What's sad about it, is most people aren't paying attention, or they don't care. I can't figure out which it is.

The government dictates how much water pressure your shower head will allow. Your morning shower is the first in dozens of ways every day that the government controls your life.

I'm hoping something will tip the apple cart, but apparently people enjoy the glazed-eye zombie shuffle through life, until the inevitable - giving 40 percent of everything you have to the government upon your death.

Wake up, folks. Vote Ron Paul.

    Wruff is on point here.

A separate issue could be the lack of female voices in most major Churches, or the fact that many of the followers disagree with the Catholic Church about this issue, but this is a first amendment thing.

Besides, your employer is compensating you however they(edit) choose. Just like they can limit what you can and can't do with the company car they pay for, they should be able to limit what they do or don't provide when it comes to insurance.

Why is no on in Congress standing up and screaming "Employees--stop relying on your employer's insurance and do it yourself!"?
