Default Do you think we'll see a new Eddie int. in any mags?

Guitar world? Classic Rock? Guitar player? Rolling stone?. Theres not that many hard rock mags anymore, so i'm hoping atleast one mag can get up close with Eddie about the album and tour.
Ofcourse, he will be upfront in not answering questions about Sam or Mike, but we have to get something atleast. He cant be quiet all year without saying anything.
Geoff Barton would do a great one for "Classic Rock", Eddie did one in 2004 for "Classic Rock", so why not again???

I've been told he is not doing any interviews. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see him talk technical in some guitar mag.

The only interviews he will do will be to hawk gear. And believe me, he will pick and/or deliver the questions to be asked. No open forum interviews for him anymore. Someone will go all investigative journalist on him and force him to confront past behaviors and actions and it will go to hell.

That said, I could stand to watch another 12 hours of Dave interviewing him and Alex. That's good stuff there. If it went on longer, I'm sure it'd be more substantive.

Yeah, this has been a bit odd to me. It seems that Dave is the one doing ALL of the talking for the band!!
ALL of the promotion, so to speak. He's the one that did all the "lyric" videos...other talking clip videos...etc, etc.
The only thing Ed & Alex have really done, is the sit-down interview, with Dave.

I have to question how much of a "band" this really is. I know they've (as a band) done the 3 small gigs together, but they are not out there pushing the new album...no interviews...nothing!

Even though we've got all this new stuff and new album, it really seems to be a lot of the same, up on Howdie Doodie Mountain. Is it just me?!?

BTW...LOVE the new CD though!! Cannot stop playing it!!

This was pretty much the norm during the Roth years and it seems to be continuing with the exception of the interview Dave did with the VH's. It may be that the VH's just don't care that much about it and are happy to let Dave yack as much as he wants.

Maybe, although I also find it odd, that the "Deluxe" version (with the DVD), only includes 3 videos...pretty lame for $5. Especially considering all the stuff they've been releasing of Dave interviewing them...and Dave's "talking". Seems like that DVD could've been loaded up with some more stuff.

I'm still happy with the CD, but still wondering, WTF?!?

not sure how much of it is Eddie being interviewed if at all but VH (Ed on cover) is in 2 new Jap mags. Young Guitar and Burn. I have both on the way. I will post any cool pics when they come in. As far as being interviewed, even if they were I cant read Japanese... haha

No need to push the album....the fans, you tube, facebook, twitter, social media in general helped propel that son of a bitch to #2!

If you really sit back and look at it, it's pretty impressive what they have done and how they have handled it....
Imagine a world without Eddie Van Halen.

"From the moment David Lee Roth appeared at the top of a giant runway that snaked through the Oklahoma City Ford Center audience Tuesday night, he wore the one thing that told every Van Halen fan that everything was right with the world. It was a maniacal Cheshire cat smile announcing happiness and enthusiasm that cannot be faked. Not only was the old band back together, it was thriving."

In the old days, EVH gave interviews. AVH too.
That only increased during the Hagar years.
It's after 2004 that he stopped giving any interviews.
I'm not sure why. I mean the last one he did was a fluff piece for Guitar World. Does he think Guitar World has not done enough for him to give them a new interview, what with multiple issues promoting his gear and giving him only softball questions?

So far, this is the only disappointing factor in this whole new album situation. I always looked forward to reading the new VH interview in Guitar World, or Guitar For The Practicing Musician whenever they had a new album come out. Sadly, I don't think we'll get that this time.

    truth.

we know a worshipful guitar world "let's talk tech" is inevitable.
but you're exactly right, those dave interviews the halens clips bring a tear to the eye!

dave alluded to a "documentary" and i'm wondering if the dvd from the deluxe edition and those "explain the songs" clips on vhnd are segments of it...

Don't be fooled. Dave has a gag on him. There are many topics that are 'not allowed'. For example: Sam, Mike, Substance Abuse, anything in the past 27 years, Cherone, Chickenfoot, Chad, Joe, Balance, Fuck, OU812, 5150, Kramer, Peavey, Ernie Ball, Eat Em and Smile, Daves Solo Career, Dave & Sam Heavyweights tour, Monsters of Rock, Valerie, the reason Wolf was brought in, Sacred Sin, porn soundtracks, parties at Ed's house, new teeth, Charlie Sheen, Extreme, Twister Soundtrack, 2000 sessions, MTV awards, Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony...etc etc etc etc...

You will not hear about ANY of that, ever.

That is why there are no interviews and never will be....which is fine. They have moved on and it seems to be working for them. The fans are getting what they want and so is the band.
