Just listened to Adele 21 start to finish for the first time. I didn't know who she was a few months ago. stunning vocal and piano record. Can you pick that one apart too when you get a minute? Call Rubin and Shanks for the dirt on recording true untethered talent.
I gotta be honest with ya 47, I really dig that album, 21. I bought it for my girlfriend for a birthday present. Some of those songs are just her and a piano or a guitar. And thats what makes the album in my opinion. Nothing overproduced there.

Amazing record. Really worth giving a spin once or twice.

I'm tellin ya, it's just a tongue in cheek thing. It's just that single one they used a few places and when they did it was really way deep down in the mix. Everything else is current Dave and up in the mix.

No one is saying they resampled all his screams. It's just that one, used here and there very low in the mix for a little fun.

I see this claim a lot but to me Dave is singing the dominant 7th instead of the tonic on the sinners. To me that's an intentional stylistic choice not a pitch issue. A whole step off the melody is not something that wouldn't be noticed and corrected if it were the case.

If that was indeed the case, maybe they will reference this fact in a later internet video release.

I too hear a sampled scream. Well, it "sounds" sampled. It doesn't mean it is. But its just waaay too perfect in its delivery... IMO

It would amaze me if it wasn't sampled, because that would show that DLR still has it in him, but I can see him stopping right after that scream, taking a break, drinking some water and padding himself with a towel, like a boxer sitting on his stool after making his way through 11 of 12 rounds.

    This ^

It's intentional. Someone would notice if there was a bad note.

Hah, yeah, no doubt! I think all the other screams are current though. I think he can still belt one out, but it would require a few takes. He can't do them anymore throughout a concert like he use to obviously. But I'm confident he can belt one out in the studio given enough takes.

Again, this isn't the old harmonic scream from concerts in the early 80's. Those are gone forever. This is the slightly rougher version, which he's still cable of in the studio. In concert these days (well as of 07-08) he does the even more removed harmonic "whhoooaaaah!".

I personally don't care how the album was made. That's my opinion. What I wanted to know is what other people think as well -- I want to know other people's intelligent opinions. Someone might say they should've done what the Foo Fighters did -- record to tape with little to no overdubs, etc. Some might say they took too long and sucked the energy out of it. I'm interested in all of those opinions. But just to be clear -- I just have the CD in my car and I love the final product no matter how "over-produced" some people might claim it is.

Grated on my ears at first but I have grown to really like this little piece of dissonance.

Okay -- here you have it, as promised. The closest to scientific proof that a "Whoo!" from RWTD was used as a sample on "China Town." I have included screen shots of my audio software so you can see on the top the clip from "China Town" and on the next line the isolated vocal from RWTD. Then I overlaid the two -- and you can hear that they are in fact identical. To prove I didn't fake anything -- and why in the hell would I do that -- the screen capture of the overlaid tracks -- check the volume of the tracks on the right -- the blue to green lines. You can see that both tracks are firing and nothing is muted or solo'd or whatever.

I think it's completely cool that they did it. It is a nod -- it is tongue in cheek -- it's classic. But good lord, don't deny it just because.

    ENJOY.
