Default What kind of Bass do you have?

What does you bass rig look like?

What kind of bass do you play and why?

Do you play through lots of small speakers, or 1 or two big ones?

Is solid state or tube better?

I have a Spector/Warwick hybrid boutique bass with a curly maple top, and a Vintage Modified Jazz under the Squier name. Don't laugh, it's an amazing bass based on the 75 Fender. Swamp maple body with great tone. I got it after a friend passed on, but was with him when he bought it. It has great reviews. For amp/speakers, I play through various units including a DI box to the console, an old Fender Bassman, and a Vox modeler on occasion too.
I actually like the Jazz Bass best. More thump and tonal variation with the phasing of the pickups. The other is more geared for smooth jazz/softer tones.

As for weather Tubes are better than solid state....It's just like regular guitars. Matter of personal preference. For more distorted tones, I like the Bassman, but for clean, it's tough to say anything bad against solid state.

I am not laughing, I agree with you.

I think the Squier Affinity Jazz bass plays and sounds great. Especially for the price. It is an entry level bass price wise, but it is built well, can take a pounding, and has a great tone.

I have a piece of shit Rogue bass that was given to me, and let me tell you, that thing sucks. It might stay in tune for five minutes...maybe. And the tone? God awful.

Has anyone here had or played a Peavey T-40 bass?

I just bought my 1st bass. I already have a Peavey T-60 guitar so I wanted a matching T-40 bass, and this one is clean. It's like the guy played it once and it's been in it's case for 30 years. It's the first guitar and bass Peavey ever made so they are U.S.A. made

I just did a serial # search for this and it is the first year of production, 1978........cool.

I got this for a steal at $300, If you are into bass I would look around because they are going up in price.
I know because the T-60 guitar has been hovering at right around $250 for 20 years and now they are going for $400 up to $600+. MADE IN USA.

I play the two basses I built, mostly for studio work.

I do everything direct with either a Bass Pod Pro, Sans Amp, or straight into a tube pre. I do the same for bands I produce and record.

SansAmp on the British setting direct = incredibly great sounding bass for rock recordings. You cannot lose with that box. Been using it since at least 1992.
