Default Tuning on the new album

Are all of the songs in Eb tuning on ADKOT? I'm going to try to tackle Outta Space. It sounds like Eb to me. I also want to learn You and Your Blues. Is YAYB in Eb as well?

    Thanks

I know Tattoo is in standard. When they play live, Ed seems to switch to a Frank for that one track, possibly because the rest are Eb.

Yeah, Tattoo is in standard. It sounds like to me everything else is Eb. I'd say it would be a good bet to start in Eb if you are trying to learn the songs. Listen for open strings, that usually gives it away.

Tattoo is standard, most of the rest are Eb. I played thru most of the album (excluding Tattoo) a couple days ago to learn the new songs and just used an Eb guitar.

There were one or two songs that seemed to be possibly in F or F# tuning, which is a favorite of Transtrem type guitar players... but I didn't spend a whole lot of time on it to figure it out for sure.

(By the way, if you want to try a different feel and sound for your guitar, try tuning it UP, instead of down. Sometimes tuning to F instead of E will make your guitar actually sound heavier, believe it or not. It also makes the strings a little snappier, etc.)

is Ed using the D2H anywhere on this?

I recall him using it on the As Is riff back on that 2 and a half men appearance.

really? I will have to try that this weekend. I have been putzing around with the new album too. I have not figured too much out yet other than Tattoo as thats pretty basic (my dumb ass is waiting for the tab book.... ha ha) but I am going to try tuning one of my Kramers to F and see how she sounds..... thanks Mjstudios...

I think the intro to As Is is in drop A, with the Drop To Hell bridge.

I have found that when you say Drop C, not everyone thinks the same thing.

Most people think of the standard D tuning with the drop C on the low D, but some people think of it as a standard tuning except the low E is dropped all the way to C.

Just an interesting side bar to the conversation I thought.

    Stay Frosty my friends.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Haha! Hell...now don't laugh, but I've been trying to get my crippled old fingers around As Is. I was so blown away how well he played that riff on the album, I've been giving it a go. I've just about got it nailed but the second part of the riff where it descends is giving me a couple headaches so far when played at speed. I keep having to slow it down, but then it's a weird riff that actually relies on the speed it's played to sound right with the pulloffs. T\hat's what makes Ed the king. I bow, I bow! lol
