But he came up with great parts, and had those signature chordal things.

The guitar tone for the intro to Limelight is so cool.
It's very nasally & boxey, but it sounds somehow perfect.

He never got that same tone (for that song) Live.

I wonder what he played through.
I think he played "Limelight" on a Gibson Howard Roberts. Not sure about the amp.

But you hear the tone i'm talking about.

It's got this nasal quality, but it sounds so cool.
It makes the intro, which is a great riff, stand out even more.

His solo in that tune is gorgeous, no question.

Oh, yeah. He could have used that white ES-355 on the intro, too. They're both semi-hollow bodies, so either would produce that slightly nasal honk.

OTOH, Alex is playing a Strat on the Limelight video, so who knows?

According to the Wiki article, the solo was done on a Strat-style custom.

As for which guitar he used it was mostly his modified strat but it's actually a mixture of different guitars.

I am a HUGE fan of The Police and Andy Summers, and what he does is fantastic. Having said that, anyone who thinks Alex isn't on another planet needs to listen more or have their ears checked.

Who cares... She looks pretty damn sexy, has a great ass and is fucked up. I hope Phil from The Hangover is destroying that nightly. She's prob not a big VH fan, though she is into metal. That said, whoever WAS singing was pretty off key, and I can't stand when guys try to play VH and just keep a Phase 90 on the entire time.

I love 'em all, but GHOST is my fave Police album.

It sounds so different than Zenyatta before it, much moodier and introspective.
Even something as warm & beautiful as "Every little thing," still has this slight
    melancholic under current.

I can't explain it, but that album makes me feel a certain way.

The Police were one of those bands everyone in school liked:
The metal heads, the Duran kids, the prep kids, the jazz band kids, the cheerleaders...

They were just too fucking good to deny.
