Default Cover of Tattoo, Hello, and HAPPY RELEASE DAY!!!

First of all, if this thread is in the wrong place, mods by all means move it to where it should be!

Hey everybody, HAPPY RELEASE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so exciting to finally hear new material -- even better that it's GREAT material. I've been a VH fan since my Dad played me the Jump and Panama music videos when I was less than 2 years old -- I've been completely hooked ever since (I'm 22 now). There is even an embarrassing video of me at about 3 or 4 years old dancing around, holding a plastic toy guitar, and fake-playing along with VH music videos.... someday I might have the guts to put it on youtube...

I remember the first time I heard songs like Right Now, Amsterdam, and Mean Street, etc. -- and today I feel the same way. I got the CD in the mail, and listened to it LOUD thru my studio monitors, and my mind was completely blown again. VH does it again. I feel like a kid in a candy store. It makes me feel somewhat less like a nerd to come to this site and know that there are thousands of other people just as excited as I am about the greatest rock band ever.... VAN HALEN!!!!!

I've been on this site a long time, and I mostly post in the Guitar Room, but I lurk around here a lot -- especially more recently. There is such a cool community here on this website, and I'm gonna start trying to become more involved over here in main too, instead of hiding out in the guitar room!!

To help introduce myself to those of you that don't venture into the guitar room (just like I don't venture out of it too often), I'm posting this cover of Tattoo by my band, Balanced. We're all big VH fans (the singer is also a linker, and the drummer is a soon-to-be-linker), and we decided that we'd cover whatever the first VH single was before we even heard it. We just completed recording and mixing the track yesterday, so I thought it would be appropriate to launch it on the same day as the new VH album.

So if you want to take a short break from blasting "A Different Kind of Truth" on repeat (which I will be doing for the next.... year), or if your copy hasn't been delivered yet, here is our cover of Tattoo!

I'm looking forward to 'meeting' and talking to more of you guys over here in main!

Not only is that a GREAT performance, it seems to bolster the notion that this song picks up some punch the "live"-er it feels. Nice work.

Also digging the sound you get out of that guitar for all the "rawness" in its look! Very Van Halen, very rock 'n roll...

Beat me to it you bastard!

    Good cover!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Mr. J..................I've always loved the stuff you post and this one is no different. The band sounds great but your playing is MONEY! Great tone, great feel, smooth as silk as always. Awesome job.

    Damn Good cover MRJ!

to continue with the Van Halen inspiring the next generation vibe, Here's a pic of the two EVH guitars I built in 2009 after I got into VH.

The one on the left is mine. The one on the right is one that I built for my high school Physics teacher as a going away present, and also my first build.

Thanks thanks thanks guys!!! And thanks for leaving it in Main!

Ya, there's something about Van Halen music that 99% of bands out there don't have. I still don't know exactly what it is -- maybe the chord structure or guitar tone or how tight the band always is -- but their music is just plain inspiring. I think that's why they have such a huge and loyal fanbase. People can't put their finger on it, but something about the music they are hearing inspires them.

It's great to have VH back!
