Default Finally, Dave could be part of a #1 album!

It seems that with all the hype and everything with this album that it should be the number one album in sales for at least one week you would think. And wouldn't that make it Dave's first number one ever?

BOV1 went number one, I would give DLR credit for that. Me Wise Magic and CGSTNM probably helped propel it there.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Best of Vol 1 debuted at #1 in '96. DLR should get credit for that.

I think Skyscraper went to #1 just over 24 years ago on the strength of Just Like Paradise.

    Skyscraper didn't hit Number One.

Poor Dave, no Number One albums. I guess he'll have to settle for two diamond award albums (10 million in sales).

Having not 1 but 2 diamond albums is a much bigger accomplishment than a #1 album. But, having a greatest hits album go #1 is still respectable.

It would be great to have #1 for a week. Madonna will probably have every little club dancer in the world buying her record next week.

There was a good discussion on the radio a few months back about how few bands /musicians there are that have a large audience compared to 20 years ago. The market is very fragmented now that people get exposed to so many bands over the internet, especially Youtube. Van Halen is still one of those brands that can command a large audience however. If a fairly unknown debut of a band like CF can go all the way to No. 4, I can’t see VH not going No. 1.

But as far as Dave is concerned, it would be nice to see him grab the ring with a studio album. I think most would agree that the follow up to 1984 would have went No. 1 even if Dave stayed on board. It surely wasn’t only curiosity that propelled 5150 to No. 1. Who knows, maybe a resurgent VH can also create a sales spike for the back catalogue even (gulp), the Hagar albums.

The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Van Halen, Def Leppard.

That's all the bands in history with more than one diamond album.

That's pretty impressive. Itís also cool that that list includes only rock bands. No Madonna or Michael Jackson on that list! You would think that U2 would have been on there and not Def Leppard - I guess not.

Madonna's done it too, as have about a dozen others. These are the only bands to do it. MJ only has one though.

One of those is for The Immaculate Collection, isn't that a best of? I discount that one. Disqualified.
    Hit the ground running...

We came through blood and fire...

"I aim to misbehave." - Captain Malcolm Reynolds: Firefly

Proud fan of BOTH major eras of Van Halen. Yes, we do exist.

"Men never commit evil so fully and joyfuly as when they do it for religious convictions"-- Blaise Pascal (1623-1662)

The Sass Jordan version of Van Halen was the best...
