Default Live right here right now

I have heard that it supposably isnt a true live album, but some of it has to be live right? Im just confused about the whole thing, I have the cd and dvd and idk how they could fake the dvd? I know its not hard to "pretend" to do a live album, guns n roses did it with live like a suicide, but what about the dvd? Its the same music and everything. I've just been really curious about this whole thing, what does everyone know?

The CD and DVD are from two different nights AFAIK (watching the DVD its obvious at least the DVD is)

I have a live boot from one of those nights and can compare for differences.

I think they replayed/rerecorded all the music/vocals in the studio later.

Now after i said that go watch it and u will see.

That album never felt live to me.

I am gonna watch it again very soon. If they did rerecord all the music and vocals they did a freaking awesome job. It must have been very difficult.

Like I said in another thread, I actually prefer a couple of these versions to the actual album ones.

    The audience sound is fake.

About 99% the same in my opinion. I think "Finish what ya started" has a different solo on the DVD than on the CDs. That's the only thing ive ever noticed.

Ha, I recall reading that on Frampton Comes Alive they used crowd noise from a Rolling Stones concert, so VH aren't the only ones guilty of this. Plus I believe Won't Get Fooled Again was completely recorded at 5150. There's even that clip of them recording it.

the clip you are talking about was done after the live album was released. They did a radio thing for radio executives and stuff, before they performed they had a call and answer session. they then went inot the studio and performed Dreams and WGFA. Both are different than what appears on the album (check out sammy's crazy asss scream at the end of WGFA and watch mikes face when he does it).

The album itself was mostly re-recorded. Not much is different from the DVD and the CD, spanked is different, maybe a few little things.

It's not a "great" "live" record. there are somethings on it I enjoy alot. I really dig the version of One Way to Rock and WGFA is great. The problem is that non of the tracks does anything to really improve on the studio versions. Judgement Day is a great recording of that song but it's just the same song as what's on FUCK. VH (at that time) was a terrific live band, on the FUCK tour and all of the previous tours with Sam they did a ton of cool stuff in concert, lots of cover tunes and jams and stuff and we didn't get to hear any of that here.

LWAN is a much better representation of VH as a live band from about that time. Even the PPV comes off as a better representation, the jam at the end of Amsterdam is fantastic.

I agree live witout a net seems to be the happier and more lively band. The only thing I dont like about it is eddies playing keyboards to much, id rather have him playing some of those solos than sammyn

On a side note ive always wished that van halen would have a touring keyboard player instead of having recorded keyboard parts. Seems kindaa lame to me.

I actually think it's kind of cool to see ed play keys on that vid and while Sammy isn't the guitar player ed is he puts a nice spin on things, I love the performance he gives on LWI, you can tell he's really putting it on the line for that song, his playing, his singing...everything. it's just neat to hear someone else's interpretation of things once in awhile.

Th live version of Pleasuredome may be the hardest thing I've ever had to listen to.

I was in college, working in a record store, and I would play the CD every day, and every day I'd have to skip out of that song as soon as I could get behind the counter.
