    Default Insane dude at Youtube

Well, I guess he might probably be a linker that visits this guitar room. I can't see why someone this fanatic wouldn't do so.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/5150DOA

The story is: I was looking at youtube for vids of someone demonstrating Ed's W/D/W rig, as I wanted to do it myself with my own gear and post it there... Then I found this guy.

First impression: okay, dude has the 5150III and three 4x12 plus harmonizer and delays. I thought: okay, my gear is smaller but similar, as I have a Peavey 6505, 2x12 and two 1x12. Not a big difference here. Okay, I use the harmonizer stuff for my VH FUCK tone but that's all, I even avoid using striped guitars to not look like a fanboy all the time!!!

Then I saw he had tons of Eddie replica guitars and the striped cabs just as Ed's. Ok, I thought, no big deal, I striped my little cabs myself with my own style in various colors (was a damn hard job!!!) and I also have one homemade guitar. A lot of guys here also have a lot of replicas and home made guitars. Some people just can't get enought, okay okay!

Well, he was already somewhere near 8 on a 10 scale of "Eddie-a-holic" (). Some people here, like Rob, have amazing rooms with Eddie's stuff and I admire that, but THEN I saw this:

The guy is on a whole other level of Eddie-ness!!! Pay attention to the video folks... DUDE HAS NEARLY THE SAME PEDALBOARD, WITH THAT WEIRD BYPASS CUSTOM BOX AND EVERYTHING. It wasn't until THAT that I realized with whom I was dealing with! This is true hardcore fanatic stuff here! How did he do that? Maybe he bought that one that was exposed at Guitarcenter? Or went to the same guy that did Eddie's stuff (I forgot his name!). WHOA!!?

Note: dude posted a Tattoo cover video 1 day after the song was released.

Had anyone already seen this guy or someone who went THIS far? Are you one of us Mr. 5150DOA???

If I were simulating Eddies rig, I'd simulate his best rig. His 1978 rig.

Not that big of a deal if he went to the same guy who did Eddie's gear. My pedalboard was built by 'that guy' as well.

I've acquired several pieces over the years same as Eddies (HHV800 power amp, SDE3000, PCM70). They do contribute to the tone, but ultimately it's the hands and the ability of the player.

    Cool vids though!!

Don't take this the wrong way, folks, but if you're this good, why try to imitate everything EVH and not try and establish your own sound/style/tone, etc? It's one thing to be influenced by such a talented artist, but why the obsessiveness to the point where your own personality with the instrument is completely gone. Again, I'm not asking to be a dick, but just curious why anyone would go to this extreme.

In my case, I just can't get rid of the harmonizer (I still think it's too good to be real... never get tired of it) and the tremolo picking.

Struggled a lot to play Eddie's stuff since I was a kid... some of it is now a true part of "my style" hehe...

agreed.... however some people just enjoy the EVH stuff (guitars, licks and overall living through the music) to the point where they dont really want to branch out on their own. They are perfectly content playing VH and collecting replica guitars. Now that being said I would say its most likely inevitable that they would eventually begin making some original stuff but some people just are happy playing VH. With all the EVH replica guitars I have and have built through the years and continue to collect, I really just enjoy jamming VH even at my age of 38 with a family. Its just what makes me happy and puts me in my little world outside of work and family. Now I am sure as heck not as good as this dude but I would love to see what he can play additional to VH. I am sure his chops are polished enough to do whatever he wants to do.

He did put out an original song. Band is called Trail's End, I'm pretty sure. Look for it on his page. Good song. It reminds me of Collective Soul.

What other guitarist's fans other than Eddie are this devoted? NONE.

If I was that talented I might go as far as him with the idolizing. But I have a short pinky.

He's obviously pretty awesome, sick skills. But if you're looking for the best EVH covers then it's real hard to top the Asian dude sitting in the diner. I posted his cover of LWAN One Way To Rock recently and he's got a bunch of others. He's spot on in every way. Amazing player.

VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

Wow, those vids are impressive. My hat's off to those guitar players. The tone, the feel, the gear, the talent: outstanding!
