    Default Three cheers for Janie?!

Ed has been highly functional and seems very happy. An awesome new album, another tour with DLR coming up. It would seem Janie would deserve a lot of credit for EVH being so happy and functional.

Thanks Janie for your impact on Eddie, this is a great time to be a Van Halen fan, the last month of activities would have seemed unthinkable in years past.

I was recently thinking the same thing; also no offense to Val.
But Janie startted with Ed at easily his lowest point; and a lot of people
Gave her flack. (at least on the forums). But she has really turned his life around.
I have no clue what she's like; but props to her.

    Agree.

I think Edward deserves some credit. A person can only change if he or she wants to change and makes a commitment to do so. So thank God he decided to make a change. I wish him continued good health and sobriety.

Yep, at the crux is Ed. He made the choice to get better. But definitely props to his wife, no doubt a huge part of it. Wolfgang, Al, I'm sure were there in different ways for him. Dave was helpful too I bet (even if it meant giving Ed space when he needed it to figure things out from time to time). I'm sure Dave had some encouraging words for Ed from time to time that Ed took to heart. I'm sure a lot of people surrounding Ed helped in different ways. But yeah, Ed should be the proudest man on the planet for winning the addiction battle. He confronted it and beat it. Here's to continued daily victories for him.

This +1. But as they say, behind every successful man, there is a great woman. It is not a slam to Valerie in anyway, I believe she gave her very best to him, their marriage and son however, you have to want to make changes. Eddie and Valerie got together so young and for so long, I just don't think there was the motivation on Eddie's part to change. Somehow, I think Janie was able to give him that motivation.

Janie does get a lot of credit. We'll never know (and should never know) the impact that she's had on him personally. But, knowing her background, I'm certain she's the driver behind the systematic way VH has announced this record and the onslaught of positive press. We may never know this, either, but it would be interesting to know how she the the VH team arrived at what amounts to a HUGE thank you to long-term fans. I hope the VH camp is reading how excited we are to see the unplugged versions, hear them talk about their past, etc. in addition to the smoking new tunes! Could not have been scripted better and I'll bet a lot of that is her work.

From everything I saw happen back on 07-08 Ed was already cleaned up, working out, got his teeth fixed, cut his hair and such And THEN he met her in a meeting.

Funny how a year ago, even 6 months ago, we all said things mocking her about what a wonderful job she was doing as VH's PR person, and now we are lauding her for a great job. I think Ed deserves all the credit because in the end even if it was her that he focused on and brought him out of his abyss, he still had to do the work and make the sacrifices.

I think it is a lot of things but the stars sort of aligned for Ed recently

but no matter how you look at it, it all rests squarely on his shoulders

he has chosen to be a partner with someone who is obviously a stabilizing influence...when he could be kicking it with bimbos

he has chosen to take his health in hand, when the alternative would have been easier to do

he has chosen to be the father and role model his son needs to have

tough choices and hard tasks, but he seems to have gotten where he needs to be....when I look at the Panama video, he seems more relaxed and comfortable in his own skin than we have ever seen him

whatever he has opened himself up to and has internalized and whatever that process has been for him, it's been a long time coming and an amazing and inspiring thing to see.

    good for him

She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.

Given's Ed's history I would much sooner give credit to Janie without knowing these people at all. Ed has never stayed sober in his life and has gotten ridiculously out of control far too many times for me to believe his recovery is his own doing.

People can on about ed's "choices" all they want, there's a love affair with EVH the person that I'll never understand I guess.
