    Default 2012 Tour?

Any idea/word on the street as to when Chickenfoot is going to announce some tour dates? They've kinda gone silent on that front, and now with their USA/Europe road tests being done, I'm wondering if/when they're going to start announcing some dates. Hoping they hit Vancouver.
The song ain't dirty it's really just the way we sing it...

Since my spring is booked on VH shows, I hope they tour in the summer. They skipped Pittsburgh last time (actually canceled). I will travel if I have to.

Rock is big enough for Chickenfoot and Van Halen.

How about that they play the dates when VH is not playing. That way each city gets VH on one night and CF the next.

Honestly, I haven't heard a thing about CF dates in the US. I'm hoping they come to CT.

I just hope they put in a fuller European tour with better coverage - sick of artists coming to the UK and thinking that everything exists purely down the bottom end of the country!

Based on recent interviews in Europe, perhaps they are seeing if they get picked up for some big festivals over there for the summer before they finalize a tour schedule. If they were going to tour NA this Spring youd think wed be hearing about it already or maybe not?

I think you're right, BTTW; they don't want to set anything in stone regarding a NA tour until the European summer festival schedule is finalised.

I might be completely barking up the wrong tree here - and I am expecting to be shot down unceremoniously - but it had occurred to me that all the Stateside furore surrounding VH might be a factor in their pursuit of the European market.

Think about it for a moment - Sam isn't stupid. He always felt that VH didn't actively promote themselves over here - and they didn't - perhaps he and the management team feel that focusing their attentions on European audiences might well be more lucrative and gain them the notoriety / acclaim that VH (to be honest) doesn't really have over here. Plus, it seems highly unlikely that VH will tour Europe or the UK (why change the habit of a lifetime?!) and so this reduces the prospect of any competition for CF.

    Just a thought..!

But a good thought that does make sense. The CF albums were welcomed quite warmly over here in Europe as far as I can tell from press coverage and show attendence.

VH sadly has stuck to the US for a long time. The last VH dates in Germany, were a one hour show supporting VHIII at some festivals - that was it. Maybe they will have to tag along with Bon Jovi again? I hope that never happens again - gives BJ too much credit and we all know that they are playing in the musical minor league (and are way too popular IMO for what they are worth. Sorry, BJ fans...).

Doing a longer multiple-stop tour in mid-sized venues would surely earn CF a good reputation for the sold rock formation they are when playing live. I think they can gain quite a following over here.

Playing festivals is cool, but I would like what we got on the road test tour - pure CF.

Too bloody right. But it comes down to that desire to gain recognition and exposure - and CF-only gigs aren't going to achieve that, whereas festivals will.

I agree with you both; they could easily sell out mid-size venues in most parts of Europe, and it would be a great treat for the fans. I thought the road test show in Brixton Academy (London) was amazing and easily one of the 10 best concerts I have been to.

But festivals is the way to go to get exposure to lots of people that have not heard their music before. And judging from most rock music fans that I have played CF to, their music would go down very well in a rock festival setting.

And considering that their routine and stage presence would surely blow most new popular rock/pop acts clean off the stage a good amount of press would be the result. I don't know how it is in the US, but in Europe the big festivals gets tons of press in the country they are held in, and for some of the major ones the coverage extends well beyond that.

I hope they play Bluesfest (not just Blues BTW) here in July...same idea..I think CF would do much better with wider exposure...no one knows about them.
They don't get much airplay because they aren't on a "big" label.
