    Default Let's be honest

Eddie Van Halen would have hated this record 30 years ago. He hated Diver down because it basically had 3 or 4 covers and 1 reworked track Hang Em High. I don't buy the whole VH has always done this and taken old material. Yes they have but it's usually only been 1 or 2 tracks on an album. I also don't buy the illogical argument that the internet didn't exist back then and they've always done this. The internet exists now and most of their material in the past was new. I also don't buy most logic I read on forums because people will defend anything regardless of how illogical it is. I just listen to music and enjoy it for what it is. IT's not that I have too much time on my hands. I personally think Moderators who moderate things have too much time on their hands to waste their time moderating a thread and people will assume lol.

But if it makes VH relavent again. Thing is Sammy is probably right. This music is so much better than everything else which lacks creativity and has become so mainstream and generalized then so be it. If it sells a ton hats off to them. People need to hear this. Corporations have made a fortune on music, but from a listeners perspective they've also run it into the ground.

I love the lyrics. And hte message from the album although I'm not sure exactly what they are saying. A different kind of truth. They don't care about the truth. They said it themselves. They are doing what is necessary to stay relavent. They are heading west. That can be looked at several ways. Has hollywood sold VH on what will be relavent? Are they heading into the sunset? Has VH been bought? Has the world changed where the people who are going to buy this stuff and defend it not even going to notice the difference?

What I'm saying is a different kind of truth as well.

it's a statement album. ed is playing shit ive never heard him do and thats saying something cuz we've all heard the albums, bootlegs, tours, etc. i always maintained ed can play whatever he wants, this album shows he can

Diver Down was full of covers. These are original VH songs.

I may be wrong but VH has never had a "message". If you want a message, check out U2.

Why do I wince every time I see a let's-be-honest premise in a thread title?

Yep, no difference between recording She's the Woman and Pretty Woman. No difference between Dancing in the Streets and Bllod and Fire. I'm sure that Ed feels no differently about this record than he does DD.
