    Default The Black Keys

In a world where just about everything is some pop chick with a "featuring a rapper" song, it's good to have a band like The Black Keys out there.

I did a search and didn't see an official thread.

Great band who play rock with some pop sense but blusey dirty yet creative. I've been a casual fan of theirs for a little while but recently I got a couple of good live boots of theirs and I'm going to go back and dig up their old stuff.

Was watching this video of theirs yesterday. funny

was just reading an article about them in "Rolling Stone" (yeah, I know, but my roommate gets it for free...). Sound like an interesting band, though I've never heard a note that I'm aware of. I do recall that they were supposed to be working with ZZ Top awhile back, but no mention of it in the article and I've not heard any more about it anywhere else, either.

These guys fucking rock. Our radio station is huge on the Black Keys.

Dan Auerbach is one of my favorite artists out there today.

and you have to like them for no other reason than they did an interview not too long ago about the dumbing down of rock n' roll and that you know we are in trouble when Nickleback is looked at as this great rock band.

Anyone making fun of Nickleback is cool in my book!.

The Black Keys are one of the few rock bands that still give me hope in the genre. Was reading a Dan Auerbach interview in Guitar World last night and the music is not only vintage, but the painstaking steps they take to record like the old days is something. He said something about how he owns the equipment in the studio and the stuff is so rare that it's virtually impossible to replace if it were damaged.

I've gotten sick of these "roots rock" bands overdoing those certain vocal effects I don't know what it's called (those microphones that seem to add reverb and sometimes sound like a megaphone. Jack White uses it alot), but for some reason it works with the Black Keys.

There is something about "El Camino" that stands out against so many other rock records of the past 10 years or so. The songs don't reinvent the wheel, but rather inject something else into the tried and true rock and roll formula. I wasn't a fan of "Brothers" because it sounded disorganized. On "El Camino," they stick with a polished, danceable, groove-heavy theme and it pays off. Can't wait to see them on March 3rd!

Love this band. Have all their stuff. I like the first 2 more. Brothers as mentioned, was a little too different for me. I picked up the El Camino LP on release day. Instead of it coming with the usual "free mp3 download" it came with the cd inside. I got it in the car and opened it up and it was like the prize in a cracker jack box

I really wanna see these guys but the Chicago show conflicts with an important date

Thinking about road tripping to Indianapolis, but I gotta find some people to go with.

I guess they never write a song in C Major?

I had never heard a song by them until listening to Lonely Boy up top. I liked it. Sounds like what comes out of my garage in the summer when we are out jamming. Except of course they are a lot better.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I get to see them next Saturday in Detroit. I was bummed I missed them in 2010 at the Fillmore but this should be good. I'm thinking about going to the show in Grand Rapids too.

These guys rock so hard! I don't understand the anti-love shown for them in that one thread in the Main. Oh, well...

Thanks for posting those vids, especially Everlasting Love and Tighten Up.

I agree...these guys are great. They have a vintage sound, but are still fresh. I don't have a chance to search out a lot of new music, nor do I listen to a lot of radio, so I came across these guys about a year ago. Very happy I found them.
