Default Peavey Wolfgang Floyd Rose Part

    Hey Gang:

One of our longtime lurkers, Leon, from Holland, emailed me to ask about a broken part on his Peavey Wolfgang's Floyd Rose. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the specific piece, so please forgive my hack way of describing it. The metal piece affixed just under the sustain block that comes up in six individual bits to apply counter-pressure to the saddle block screws. (The D-Tuna puts extra downward pressure on it when in 'E' mode.) Apparently Leon broke one off, and Peavey UK wanted a ridiculous sum of money to sell him a replacement Floyd. I figured that part specifically could be replaced (provided someone knows what the hell it's actually called), or he could buy the GFS Floyd (identical to the Peavey Floyd) and swap out the sustain blocks: http://www.guitarfetish.com/NEW-Heav...EEL_p_518.html. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I started this thread because he hasn't posted enough to start threads yet. (He will probably follow up.)

Here's what you're looking for. Not positive that the Peavey one is the same, but I'd bet you it is -- and it's such thin metal the holes could be easily enlarged if need be.

Can anyone tell me if the trem block shim is actually needed ?
I put a brass sustain block in my 09 EVH Wolf and took the shim out.
What is the intended purpose of this shim---I see no need for it !!!

I may have one kicking around that I'm not using. Its taken from an OFR but if he can use it, he can have it gratis, obviously its used so not in 'mint' condition but I don't think that would be particularly important.

    Hey people

many many thanks for all the info! I was unable to post on the VHlinks, but thanks to Brett I can now. I was pretty worried about my Peavey Wolfgang bridge. Peavey Europe told me to buy a new bridge that almost costs 600 dollars (!) Now I know that these guitars and their bridges aren't made anymore, but the price was pretty high. With all the info I got from you guys I know more about what I need. It is called a "Fine tuner tension plate"

    with kind regards
    Leon

No you don't need the shim....I always take them out.

The purpose is to protect the tension plate from the block.

600 bucks???? Is that us or euro?

Either way...anyone of our european friends want a peavey floyd or 2?

If tommywho5150 send you the part it's ok (and nice too).
Otherwise, with problem like this, if no one can help you, ebay can be your best friend!

a couple of years ago there was a small movie from the Peavey factory where you saw the building process of the old Wolfgang. Is this small movie still somewhere? any tips?

I had parts problems with an Ibanez licenced Floyd a couple of years ago. I wrote them an email and long story short they sent it free. Gratis. Did you write Peavey?
