Default Wish list for the tour

I've never been so fearful to start a new thread. Please have mercy, mods, if this doesn't pass muster.

I was wondering what everyone's wish list for the tour might be. I know that HAVE to play Jump, Panama, You Really Got Me, etc., but if I could draw up the setlist, I'd make it heavy with the new tunes - especially the ones they originally worked up during the club days (Big River, She's the Woman.)

Also, I'd really dig hearing Feel Your Love Tonight and Outta Love Again. That would kill!

What do you wish they'd play?

P.S. To D.L. Roth, please consider leaving at home that whole "holding-up-my-top-hat-with-my-boner" trick. Thanks.

There are three deep cut songs that if they played only one of them it would make my head explode.

    Hear About It Later
    Secrets
    Drop Dead Legs

And if it was "Hear About It Later" I'd be picking up brain matter for weeks.

Somebody smart with web-based databases should up a Van Halen Petition website like the Rush Petition that allows fans to vote for five songs we'd like to hear live. The Rush Petition gets the results to the band and they've actually taken into account the results when deciding on tour setlists. With Brett's connections to the band now we could at least get the results to them. It's probably a little late in the game now as the band probably has already decided on the setlist but it could prove fruitful in the future.

    http://www.rushpetition.com/

Also I'm just curious as to what songs all of us would vote for.

I know you were joking about Aftershock, but I do think it would be cool if they did Finish What Ya Started. Dave would sound good on that one. And if it made it more palatable for him, he could intro it with, "We're gonna do one tune from when that other guy was keeping my seat warm."

You know, just in case his ego couldn't handle admitting there was another version of the band.

Fools. It's within Dave's range and it gives the rest of the band a chance to shine because it is a kick ass groove. IMHO

Never thought I'd say it, but I hope they play as much of the new album as possible. Love the old hits but I've been hearing them for decades. More deep cuts though as you guys have been suggesting. Hope they put Little Guitars back in- saw it in '07 but they had pulled it when I saw them in '08. Saw it two nights in a row in '82 as well. I could do without any extended solos but we're going to get them, and ultimately enjoy them live. I'd dig something like Eruption played almost true to the album going right into YRGM afterward since we know we're getting that song as well. Pretty sure their normal closer Jump will be there but on that Cafe Wha? setlist they added Beautiful Girls and Unchained as two encores (but didn't play them there), and I hope they go that route.

Dave will never, ever do a Sam tune, even if it was one that suited him like FWYS. Aftershock is a blistering tune, and as much as I love DLR, he could never pull it off vocally even if he wanted to.

Bottoms Up like they did on the DD tour encore, plus one of the non-hits from 1984; DDL, GGB or HOP. And I'd rather eat my own head with a rusty fork than listen to Dave sing a Van Hagar song.

    All true.
    Hit the ground running...

We came through blood and fire...

"I aim to misbehave." - Captain Malcolm Reynolds: Firefly

Proud fan of BOTH major eras of Van Halen. Yes, we do exist.

"Men never commit evil so fully and joyfuly as when they do it for religious convictions"-- Blaise Pascal (1623-1662)

The Sass Jordan version of Van Halen was the best...

Besides the addition of several new songs, I would...

    Add:
    Hear About It Later
    The Full Bug
    Bottoms Up!

    Retire:
    I'll Wait
    (Oh) Pretty Woman
    And the Cradle Will Rock...

I'm right there with ya....I hope to hear more than just 2 or 3 songs from the new album....

As much as people may dislike it....Diver Down needs some love other than Pretty Woman. I am really growing tired of that song....
Imagine a world without Eddie Van Halen.

"From the moment David Lee Roth appeared at the top of a giant runway that snaked through the Oklahoma City Ford Center audience Tuesday night, he wore the one thing that told every Van Halen fan that everything was right with the world. It was a maniacal Cheshire cat smile announcing happiness and enthusiasm that cannot be faked. Not only was the old band back together, it was thriving."
