I must be really old because I'm only sort of vaguely familiar with the name No Doubt. Also, on that list Rush is easily my favorite with VH second but neither of those has any chance to outsell some of the others no matter how good their new albums are.

I think Aerosmith will sell big... granted that they have at least one hit and the rest of the album is filled with 70's sounding blues rockers. They also get alot of promotion because of Tyler and American Idol.

Rush will sell very well. I think VH will come in third. I don't know about the others cause I'm not familiar with how their more recent albums have sold and how dedicated their fanbases are to even buy them.

    6 Bruce Springsteen - 2
    7 Paul McCartney - 1

I would go with Rush, then Van Halen due to the fact that it's their first record back with DLR, and most are going to want to hear it. U2 has those hippie, and tree hugginng peeps who will buy there album for some unknown reason since they haven't had a good album since JT. No Doubt is to late in the game. Not 1996-2000 anymore. Aerosmith...They just do soundtracks. The rest NO!
    AKA Drewbacca

Van Halen has this cult/religious following thing going on, wherein music journalists (who are usually clueless) and genuine fans and musicians (who should know better) respect this band musically. The reality is far different...

First, every record this band has done since "Fair Warning" is complete crapp. Given that "Fair Warning" was released in April of 1981, that is 23 years of junk now boys........One of the BEST Post EVER!!!!

    Aerosmith, not even close.

As gay as that show is, American Idol will double or triple their normal sales.

Is U2 coming out with a new cd? Man I hope so. I LOVE U2! Van Halen and U2 are my favorite bands by far. Don't even know who would be my #3.

I would definitely say U2 (ehhh... probably Aersosmith. I hate Aerosmith. LOVED 70's Aerosmith.)

    U2 second if not first.

    VH 3rd hopefully : )

I would LOVE it if it were
    1.VH
    2.U2
    3. who cares.

I don't know about Rush, I love them, but they have an active career, and release and tour regularly. Again don't get me wrong about them, but they have a more progressive appeal which from what I believe is not that mainstream for sales. Maybe I'm wrong, but have to see what their last record sold. Sure the music will be good.

Aerosmith, yes has that AI with Tyler and brand name, so it could sell, but will depend on the music itself.

I believe VH could sell very good, based on the buzz that ADKOT is generating, and the songs are pretty good IMO. They have a more general appeal and is a comeback record.

No Doubt may sell due to Gwen Stefanni who had a successful solo career, and they have a pop rock direction mixed with other styles.

U2, always wins, but let's check the music first. Obviously their tour is gonna be giant.

Sure Black Sabbath can and will create a buzz with their album, and hopefully TI gets well soon! Amazing band and I'm sure is going to rock.

Others, will see. As long as there is good music! Remember that touring is more profitable for bands now.

You are taking the piss. I'd love VH to outsell ACDC but historically Acca Dacca have sold over 200 million albums worldwide, 71 million in the US alone. Think VH have 50 million in the US and 25 odd million worldwide.

That was my point, Rush is my favorite band but no matter how good the new album is they'll never have the mainstream exposure and market presence of Bruce Springsteen, U2, Aerosmith, McCartney, etc. and therefore won't sell as much. VH certainly has more mainstream appeal than Rush but I don't see them competing with some of the others on that list either. I want both bands to be successful but I don't look at it as any sort of competition or referendum on their quality if/when Springsteen outsells them.

JP is one of my all-time favorite bands but there's no way in hell they're going to come close to most on that list. I'm looking forward to it but K.K. retiring was like a kick in the shin.

True dat, yo. It is also true that VAN HALEN has 2 diamond albums, but overall career sales aren't the key factor here. VAN HALEN has the comeback kid advantage. Hell, VH's Greatest Hits with just 2 new tracks w/ Diamond Dave sold 3 million. This train hasn't even left the station yet and I can already feel its steam. I think you are gonna be surprised how many 40+ year olds who haven't bought an album in years are gonna line up to get their audio viagra and time machine back to the 80s again.
