    Default Tremonti

Who else is into Tremonti's solo stuff? I've always dug Mark has a guitarist. Stapp made Creed unlistenable for me, but Alter Bridge has been consistently awesome. So I was excited when I heard Mark was doing a solo album, and now I'm more excited since that Wolf's involved in the writing/recording of the followup.

Anybody else looking forward to their next album? I actually just bought a ticket to the pre-release listening party in Orlando. Listening party for the new album, meet and greet with the band, and a mini-show of old and new tunes. Should be killer!

Hit me up... I'll be there as well. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the new tunes. These guys take this VERY seriously.

Cauterize came out yesterday, and it's every bit as awesome as I remembered. Mark's vocals and melodies on this album are a big improvement over All I Was. The whole band is firing on all cylinders. I highly recommend buying this one and giving it a few spins.

I've got it but haven't listened to it yet. A local music shop here had a special deal with it and I got a bonus guitar pick and a signed card (same as cover art) signed by the band, including WVH

I'm going to crank it over the weekend.

Here's a review from Ultimate Guitar.com for the new album...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

I'm surprised by the last paragraph:

Honestly, the weak point on this album to me is Wolfgang - and I hate saying that because I've been rooting for him, in general. I think he's in a weird predicament where it looks like he got his gig with Van Halen by the band arbitrarily replacing Michael Anthony and he really needs to prove his chops. I think he definitely did that with Van Halen if by no other means than being motivational to his dad and uncle. When I heard live Tremonti recordings with Wolfgang I wasn't impressed, but I thought that was partially because he was coming into songs that had already been completed and recorded by another bassist. What I found with "Cauterize" is that Wolfgang does truly play bass like a rhythm guitarist (as has been said), which unfortunately does a disservice to the music. Moving on, I felt like the album had a lot more sonic variety than I expected, and I found myself impressed with things I wasn't even expecting from Mark Tremonti. A few examples were the deep and introspective nature of the lyrics, some of the softer and slower passages, and the awesome vocal performance. I think this is a serious improvement from his last album, and I look forward to hearing what he does next. I'm patiently awaiting to hear "Dust," or whatever the next album ends up being called.

I have no opinion of Wolf as a bass player, I never sat down and went through the bass tracks on ADKOT (or really any other VH record for that matter), I don't play bass so I'm not qualified to say if what guy says is true or not it was just surprising to read that in the review.

Default Tremonti's New Album with Wolf "Cauterize"

Surprised there wasn't already a thread on this. I thought that album was coming out later in the summer, but I guess it's already out. Since it includes a member of Van Halen, anyone pick it up? Not really into that kind of rock, but I think I'll have to invest. That "Another Heart" sounds cool.

I've had the album since it came out I'm a big Alter Bridge & Tremonti fan so I love the album.
    Heavy guitars, drums & bass.
Wolf sounds great on the album.
I would think Wolf's album will follow this type of music a bit as Eric from the Tremonti band is playing on it.

Cauterize is a really solid album with great performances. I'm really digging it.

Friedman started off endorsed by Fender and on a path to be the next KWS. When that wasn't working he kinda changed career paths. That, combined with Ed's description being technical pop meets AC/DC meets VH, kinda threw any expectations I have out the window. That album could be anything, but I definitely expect some heavy elements.
