Default TSA makes over 400K per year from finding loose change

I can't see how this is the TSA's money to collect

you leave your change in one of those bins and they collect it and keep it.

The TSA Makes $400,000 a Year Finding Loose Change
By Dashiell Bennett | The Atlantic Wire – 3 hrs ago

Airport travelers left $409,085.56 at security checkpoints across the country in 2010, simply by emptying the change in their pockets into those plastic bins and not picking it up again. The Transportation Security Administration says they collect all the unclaimed money in a jar that gets counted and sent to the finance office where it's added to the general operations fund. (John F. Kennedy Airport in New York collected the most money; about $47,000, including some foreign currency.) Republican House member Jeff Miller of Florida has proposed that they donate that money to the USO, implying that spending any more money on the TSA is a gigantic waste of taxpayer expense. Or maybe they could donate it to the airlines to cover checked bag fees.

SANDUSKY — Cedar Point has some gravity defying rides, but what goes up must come down, including loose change in riders’ pockets.

The amusement park, this month, donated more than $1,000 from its Loose Change Fund to the Victory Temple Soup Kitchen in Sandusky, which provides hot meals to the community. During the season, Cedar Point employees collect and turn in to the fund any money found along the midway, beneath the rides and in the park’s water attractions.

“We are extremely grateful for these donations and Cedar Point’s continued support of the Victory Temple Soup Kitchen and the needy people in the area,” said the Rev. Lonnie R. Walters, senior pastor of the Victory Temple Church. “These gifts will help us provide much-needed assistance to our less fortunate neighbors.”

First started in 1988, the Loose Change Fund has collected and donated more than $187,000 to local organizations.

The park also donated more than $4,800 in food and beverages to the Victory Temple Soup Kitchen and the Salvation Army. Donated items included vegetables, fruits, meats, milk, juices, tea, cheese and cereal. In the last three years, Cedar Point has given more than $13,000 in food products to local organizations.

“Cedar Point and its employees are very concerned about the people of our community,” said John Hildebrandt, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “These organizations provide a very important service. They help people in need during these difficult times.”

She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.

Did you hear about the TSA agent who thought sex toys hidden incarry on bag may have resembled a weapon? After questioning the woman and searching her bag she replied,"Its just my little Love Gun". Gene would be proud! Bada da dum,Bada da dum

We design our own album cover, we have to be in the office every day to sign checks - the whole corporation revolves around us. Nothing can be done without our approval. We even have photo approval.
