Dude VH wins by a landslide. Eddie vs Perry? Come on. No brainer. And surprisingly enough, they're not very fond of eachother.

seems like a silly question to me. Van Halen is up there with Sabbath and Zeppeliin. aerosmith had that chick song on the movie Armageddon.

Yeah, and they also released such undeniable hard rock classics as Toys in the Attic and Rocks (which are just as prolific as any of the early VH releases).

Considering that Van Halen is currently pretty much a parody of its former self, I'd say that Aerosmith won.

Regarding Aerosmith of the past twenty-some years, I usually ask "why have two guitarists when you can barely hear one?" Often it's a bunch of horns and other stuff it seems to me...I did see Aerosmith twice on the KISS tour a few years ago, they were solid and all...however, I just never felt the need to add their CD's to the old tape collection I had of them from way back.

I like both bands. Not sure if one is more influential than the other. I do think EVH, as a guitarist would rate highest as an individual musician though.

Both bands are important for their seminal work, though Aerosmith has retained more credibility in the later years as they've kept the original band together despite some public bickering.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

I think Perry has a cool kind of slinky playing style. He's got his own sound, as does Eddie. Funny thing is, Whitford is probably a technically better player than Perry. He can rip it up pretty good. Compairing guitarists is kind of pointless to me though. It takes all kinds, as they say.

Uh...no. They lost their credibility and man-cards when they performed with Justin Timberlake and Britany Spears at the Super Bowl about 10 years ago. And that aweful song "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" was the nail in the coffin before that as well. And Tyler on American Idol, I mean the list goes on and on

Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.
