    Default New Guitar World

Eddie has always done a GW interview as a new album has come out and has done so with the issue hitting the stands before the album drops. Does anyone know if there's one coming this month. I don't subscribe to it anymore and haven't read it in quite some time so I don't know about when the release dates are for new issues. I was hoping to get more info about the new album at least in more technical terms to hold us over until the release date.

    Anyone?

I have no doubts that VH will grace the cover of GW and other guitar mags in the coming months with a new album and tour.

The new issue has David Gilmour on the cover. Probably next issue to coincide with the release.

Was wondering that myself. Should be anytime now to hear about it. There's always preview covers and such a month beforehand.

I am thinking that with the very tight security, there actually won't be an interview with Eddie until the album comes out. This way the guy interviewing can reference songs. So I am thinking we won't see Ed on the cover until April or May.

I'm surprised that there's no interview that will be out before the release. I know they are keeping the music under wrap but there's no harm in talking about the music and Eddie's always had such a good relationship with GW that its just surprising it won't occur until after the release.

I really get the feeling he abhors doing interviews these days.

The one with Tony Iommi in 2010 was a little bizarre.

I get lost in the "Monthly Issue" dates and such. Many Mags dates are not actual to release. Gilmour is on the latest GW that came less than 2 weeks ago. Don't have it in front of me but I'm betting it's at least the Feb-12 issue. Funny thing about these mags these days....They basically give them away ( I pay 10 bucks a year). they're selling volumes to get MORE advertising spots. That's ok, it is what it is...

New one has Lamb of God on the cover, no mention of VH at all
"The new Van Halen album is a miracle from the baby Jesus" - Me

"This next part should really confuse things...everybody, let's stay focused" -DLR "As Is"

"...excitement that comes from a muscle car rhythm section led by a six-string wizard and a singing sexual megalodon with an ego that made Kanye look like a kid flaunting his new Spider-Man underoos – and the pipes to back up the strut." -Johnny Firecloud

Fuck Guitar World - I'm mad at them. They went all death metal and weird shit years ago. They USED to have cool stuff about "guitar bands" - Zeppelin, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Van Halen, Satriani, Metallica, Megaeth, etc. Then, one day, it all just switched to hardcore and death metal shit and now its all Lamb of God, Slipknot, Meshuggah, Five Finger Death Punch, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club... and I don't have anything against those bands, but they're all so far off to one side of the rock music genre... I felt like they really abandoned the good old guitar rock I had been enjoying so much.

Screw those guys at Guitar World.

    There. I said it.

I with you on this. They cover way too much death metal shit. Unless I see Eddie or Slash on the cover I won't even pick up a Guitar World magazine to skim through anymore. This reminds me of many years ago when Hit Parader and Metal Edge (remember those magazines) changed formats and just covered the death metal scene. Of course it didn't take long for both of those magazines to vanish off the newstands and close shop. I have to think that Guitar World is just about finished as well. Of course there are no new guitar heros and I doubt there will be anymore for some time....so they probably don't have much to cover these days.
